  • Coordinate and generate local evidence with cross-functional teams (marketing, medical affairs, commercial) and shape external policy to drive national POC adoption and funding; ensure Market Access representation in country commercial strategy

The Opportunity

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is recruiting a Market Access Manager to support its growing business in Northern Europe, within the Cardiometabolic & Informatics business unit. The position will require leadership of both national & local market access activities, the ability to create compelling & relevant evidence in a real world setting, enhancing the value proposition and driving positive funding outcomes.

What You’ll Do

As a highly experienced Market Access professional, you will use your experience in the UK to navigate the payer decision-making processes within the rapid diagnostics Point of Care (POC), sector. Leveraging your network and contacts within payer and influencing communities in these markets, you will play a key role in expanding the POC market and revenue sources for Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Afinion portfolio.

Collaboration will be a key driver of success, working in close partnership with other functions within the group is essential to maximise the effectiveness of Market Access. Working closely with Medical and Government Affairs, Marketing, and Commercial groups along with external stakeholders to change policy and practice in the UK, driving the value of point of care to achieve funding and reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development & implementation of comprehensive business plans to address funding issues in the UK POC market. Mapping or defining with local payers, clear pathways to product adoption ensuring evidence aligns with local evaluation needs.
  • Engage directly and nurture relationships with stakeholders at local, regional and national level to improve access and unlock funding for Point-of-Care
  • Evaluate threats and opportunities arising out of legislation, regulations, health technology assessments from Governments, health authorities, public and private payers & determine their implications alongside internal stakeholders.
  • Where required, develop local evidence in collaboration with cross-functional groups from marketing, medical affairs and commercial
  • Shape and manage the external environment and the effect of payer/health policy through mapping the decision-making process, identifying the key stakeholders and presenting data and evidence to gain support and momentum to drive national POC adoption and funding
  • Ensure full representation and participation of market access function in country commercial team strategy and  meetings.

This is a field based role, 50-60% travelling across UK is anticipated.

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience working in the field of Market Access, specifically within UK & with established networks with Payers, senior NHS managers
  • Detailed knowledge of the healthcare landscape, including payer/provider environment
  • Experience working within the Diagnostics sector preferred, ideally with experience working closely with payers to gain funding for diagnostic solutions
  • Strong commercial acumen & payer negotiation skills
  • Degree level essential, Masters level or PhD in a relevant field preferred (e.g. health economics)
  • Take accountability for own development and success
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to prioritise & manage complex projects
