Job Title: Upstream Kansas Program Coordinator (State of Kansas) 

Department: US Programs 

Reports to: Director, US Programs 

Classification: Full-time, Exempt 

Location: Remote (must be based in Kansas) 

 

Salary Grade Level: Coordinator 

Role Summary: CADCA seeks a dedicated Upstream Kansas Program Coordinator (State of Kansas) committed to the "Youth Led, Adult Guided" philosophy to join our collaborative US Programs team. This role supports the implementation and growth of CADCA’s youth leadership and substance use prevention initiatives in Kansas, with primary responsibility for coordinating the Upstream Kansas Youth Leadership Prevention Program. Through this work, the coordinator helps engage youth as community leaders working through coalitions to improve community health, safety, and well-being. 

The successful candidate will help coordinate youth leadership activities, trainings, and partnerships that strengthen youth engagement in prevention efforts across Kansas. The role requires strong public health program management skills, partner and stakeholder coordination, and a collaborative approach to working with youth, adult advisors, and coalition partners. The coordinator will join a team that values cross-team collaboration, quality improvement, and excellence. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate and support implementation of the Upstream Kansas Youth Leadership Prevention Program, including planning youth activities, meetings, and events. 
  • Support youth leadership development and participation in coalition-based community prevention efforts. 
  • Assist in management of grants and cooperative agreements, including supporting work plans, budgets, and progress reporting. 
  • Collaborate with state agencies, coalition partners, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to coordinate training and technical assistance for youth and adult partners. 
  • Support youth advisory groups and help coordinate trainings, meetings, and events that strengthen youth leadership and substance use prevention knowledge. 
  • Contribute to additional CADCA US Programs initiatives as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Strong public health program coordination and project management skills. 
  • Experience working with youth leadership programs, community coalitions, and public health initiatives. 
  • Knowledge of substance use prevention, tobacco prevention or related public health strategies. 
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and partnership building skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with youth, adult advisors, and organizational partners. 

Required Education and Experience: 

Degree:  Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Public health experience and grant and relationship management is strongly desired.

Years of experience: Three to five years of experience in public health initiatives, youth leadership programs, or community coalition work. 

Certifications and/or Training: 

  • None required 

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation 
  • Knowledge of Kansas’s public health landscape and youth-serving systems preferred 

Travel Requirements: 

  • Travel up to 30% annually within Kansas; approximately 5% national (domestic) 

Work Environment: 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams. 
  • Availability to support CADCA’s signature events: Drug Free Kids Campaign, Mid-Year Training Institute, and National Leadership Forum. 
  • Primarily office-based work with occasional light physical activity, including transporting materials and supplies for youth meetings, trainings, and events.
