  • Support social media engagement for the conference including developing social media tools, monitoring content and engaging followers to leverage activity

Job description

Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, inclusive living, and family support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Best Buddies is the largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people worldwide with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our programs empower people with IDD to form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure jobs, improve communication and advocacy skills, and live independently, while also offering support for their families.

 

Job Title:  Leadership Conference Intern

Department: State Operations & Programs

Location: Work From Home

Reports to: Deputy Director, e-Buddies

Position Overview

This position requires a highly motivated individual with a passion for non-profit and the disabilities community. The Leadership Conference Intern role is an integral part of our mission and leadership team and will support the preparation and execution of the annual Best Buddies Leadership Conference in a variety of roles including, but not limited to, general clerical work, programmatic promotion, and social media engagement. This is a 6-week paid internship starting in June and ending at the end of July (start and end dates are flexible).  

Job Qualifications

  • Passionate about the Best Buddies mission!
  • Strong project management and/or organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); ability to learn and execute database management of internal systems
  • Team player with the confidence to take the lead on project management (when necessary)
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and communities
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently
  • Mandatory attendance at the Annual Best Buddies International Leadership Conference (July 13-21) in Bloomington, Indiana (all expenses will be paid)

 

Job Duties 

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the mission and leadership team in the organization of logistics and operations for Leadership Conference 
  • Assist with the distribution of Best Buddies promotional and volunteer information via social media, e-mail communication, and direct mail
  • Track and report on conference registration (utilizing the internal database system)
  • Support social media engagement for the conference including developing social media tools, monitoring content and engaging followers to leverage activity
  • Solicit in-kind donations for the conference
  • Work nights and weekends during the conference

 

Logistics

  • Multiple intern positions are available, based at Best Buddies International headquarters in Miami, FL, or remote (Work From Home)
  • Hours: 10 am to 3 pm, Monday through Thursday
  • College credit may be available through your university 
  • Payment: minimum wage
