Roles & Responsibilities

  • ODA Licensed Pesticide Applicator preferred, with ability to obtain license (categories 3, 6, 8) within 6 months of hire
  • Working toward a High School Diploma, Vocational or Degree in Turf/Landscape/Agriculture Technologies or similar
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in landscape, irrigation, golf course, lawn care, agriculture or related field
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and ability to manage multiple tasks

Requirements:

  • Perform grounds maintenance on priority lawns and landscapes (mowing, edging, trimming; foliage/plant care; tree/shrub care/removal) across RD plots, beds and research areas
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and repair onsite irrigation systems; maintain interior plantscapes and aquatic ponds/streams
  • Apply control products (fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, fertilizers) following safety protocols and proper storage
  • Provide snow/ice removal, install and dismantle seasonal holiday decorations, and support RD Tours/Corporate Events; perform routine equipment maintenance and safety verifications

The Scotts Miracle Gro Company is seeking qualified/motivated individuals to join
our Corporate Services Landscape Team as a Grounds Maintenance/Landscape Technician.

This is a Full-Time position for an associate to support and assist our Landscape Services Crew at our World Headquarters and R&D grounds located in Marysville, Ohio under the supervision of the Landscape Lead.


This position will share the responsibilities of practicing and sustaining high quality
grounds and landscape maintenance standards in the following areas:

  • Priority lawns and landscapes

  • R&D lawns, plots, beds, and other research areas

  • Onsite irrigation systems

  • Interior plantscapes

  • Aquatic ponds and streams

  • Control product applications.

  • Snow and Ice removal

  • Holiday decorations

  • Equipment care and maintenance

  • R&D Tours/Corporate Events Support

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Typical daily tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Priority lawns and landscapes

  • Mowing, edging & trimming.

  • Foliage/plant care

  • Tree, shrub care and removal

  • R&D lawns, plots, beds, and all other research areas

  • Mowing and trimming

  • Onsite irrigation systems

  • Operation, troubleshooting and repair.

  • Interior plantscapes

  • Assist in maintaining indoor plants throughout multiple buildings on site.

  • Prune, water, and change out plants.

  • Aquatic ponds and streams

  • Maintain waterways for general cleanliness, drainage, and irrigation usage.

  • Control product application.

  • Perform periodic applications of control products including Fungicides,

  • Insecticides, Herbicides and Fertilizer

  • Practice required safety protocols when handling, applying, and storing control products.

  • Snow and Ice removal

  • Perform timely removal of snow from specified areas using snowplows, shovels, loaders, and rotary brooms.

  • Apply ice/snow melt products as prescribed and needed.

  • Maintain sidewalk salt boxes.

  • Holiday decorations

  • Assist with installation and take down of seasonal holiday decorations at multiple onsite facilities.

  • Equipment, care, and maintenance

  • Perform daily maintenance checks and safety verifications on equipment in use.

  • R&D Tours/Corporate Events Support

  • Assist in the setup, operations, and teardown of various events.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Landscape Lead

  • The Landscape Services group is part of the Facilities Division and will be upon from time to time to help in other areas as needed.

  • Preferred Education & Experience

  • ODA Licensed Pesticide Applicator Preferred - possesses or ability to obtain a license with categories 3, 6 & 8 within 6 months of hire.

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $46,200.00 - $54,400.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
