Roles & Responsibilities

CA(SA), SAIPA Professional Accountant, or Registered SARS Tax Practitioner
Experience with South African SME companies and trusts
Strong knowledge of SARS and CIPC compliance processes
Ability to work remotely and collaborate with a distributed team

Requirements:

SARS compliance management, including eFiling profile setup/verification, appointment as SARS Registered Representative where required, SARS tax health checks for companies, trusts, and individuals, and assistance with restoring or obtaining access to existing SARS profiles
Tax compliance and reporting, including VAT returns (bi-monthly where applicable), provisional tax returns, annual company and trust tax returns, personal tax return support, and preparation of income statements where required
Financial reporting and bookkeeping oversight, including preparation of annual financial statements and collaboration with the bookkeeping support team, with oversight of internal bookkeeping processes
CIPC compliance management, including updates to CIPC accountant where required, CIPC compliance health checks, annual CIPC returns, beneficial ownership declarations, and electronic company register setup and maintenance

Job description

This is a remote position.

A structured operations consultancy dedicated to supporting property development, hospitality, and high-growth businesses across South Africa is looking for an experienced Accountant to join their team on a fully remote, flexible, part-time basis. (Approximately 15 hours per month to start, with potential to increase.) This position provides critical financial oversight and compliance management for a diverse portfolio of entities. You will act as the senior financial touchpoint, ensuring that all corporate and tax obligations are met with precision. You will collaborate closely with the internal bookkeeping support team to streamline workflows and provide high-level advisory support.

Responsibilities:

SARS Compliance

• SARS eFiling profile setup and verification
• Appointment as SARS Registered Representative where required
• SARS tax health checks for companies, trust, and individuals
• Assistance with restoring or obtaining access to existing SARS profiles

Tax Compliance

• VAT returns (bi-monthly where applicable)
• Provisional tax returns (twice per year)
• Annual company and trust tax returns
• Personal tax return support
• Preparation of income statements where required

Financial Reporting

• Preparation of annual financial statements
• Review and oversight of internal bookkeeping processes
• Collaboration with our bookkeeping support team

CIPC Compliance

• Update CIPC accountant where required
• CIPC compliance health checks
• Annual CIPC returns
• Beneficial ownership declarations
• Electronic company register setup and maintenance
