Roles & Responsibilities

  • 10-15+ years of relevant experience with a post-secondary degree in data, analytics, AI, or enterprise architecture (or equivalent combination), and/or a university degree/diploma in computer science, engineering, information systems, IT, or related fields such as business administration
  • Solid hands-on experience with cloud platforms and enterprise-scale solutions; strong knowledge of API integration, microservices, cloud-native architectures, and enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF)
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud services (Azure: Power BI; AWS: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift, Glue), data platforms (data warehouses, Hadoop, Spark), streaming (Kafka), analytics/BI tools (Power BI, SQL analytics) and AI/ML frameworks (Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch) with ML lifecycle management/MLOps
  • Experience with Data Governance (Data Quality, Data Lineage, Metadata Management, Master Data Management, DCAM) and strong analytical, verbal/written communication, collaboration, and cross-group influence skills; ability to manage ambiguity and data-driven decision making

    The Data Analytics and AI Architect is a senior enterprise architect responsible for defining and advancing the organization’s data, analytics, and AI architecture vision. The role spans data platforms, advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI, ensuring alignment with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and enterprise standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Define and evolve enterprise data, analytics, and AI architecture standards, target and reference architectures.

    • Design and guide end-to-end architectures covering data ingestion, analytics, ML and AI platforms.

    • To be a technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation in data, machine learning and AI areas. Thought out for their architectural depth and breadth.

    • Identifies and researches data, analytics and AI relevant technologies, performs proofs of concept / prototypes, and recommends the applications of such technologies for future product architecture.

    • Create and grow architectural capability across the organization.

    • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal stakeholders in enterprise, technology and business groups in order to ensure adherence to Data and AI architecture standards.

    • Stays abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities, and individual learning.

    • Provides architectural expertise and domain knowledge to advise and guide senior leaders.

    • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

    • Ensure governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Typically 10 - 15+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience in data, analytics, AI, or enterprise architecture roles.

    • Possesses a university degree/college diploma in related discipline(s) with concentration in computer science, engineering, information systems, information technology or other related majors such as business & administration

    • Solid hands-on working experience on cloud platforms and enterprise-scale solutions

    • Solid knowledge of Architecture & Integration: APIs, microservices, cloud-native architectures, enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF)

    • Experience with Azure cloud services: Microsoft Azure (Power BI, Microsoft Fabric)

    • Experience with AWS cloud services: Cloud Platforms: AWS (EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift, Glue),

    • Experience with Data Platforms: Enterprise Data Warehouses, Big Data platforms (Hadoop, Spark), Streaming platforms (Kafka, Spark Streaming)

    • Experience with Analytics & BI: Power BI, SQL-based analytics, enterprise reporting and visualization tools

    • Experience with AI & Machine Learning: Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, machine learning model lifecycle management, MLOps tools

    • Experience with Data Governance & Management: Data Quality, Data Lineage, Metadata Management, Master Data Management, Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM)

    • Experience with Web Application and API design and integration,

    • Understanding of API management, authentication and authorization standards, and integration patterns across distributed systems, including RESTful APIs, OAuth 2.0, Financial Grade API (FAPI)

    • Experience designing and consuming enterprise APIs for data exchange, analytics services, and AI-enabled applications.

    Salary:

    $94,600.00 - $176,000.00

    The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

    Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
