Role Summary 

The People Business Partner – ANZ plays a critical role in shaping a highperformance, engaging and growthoriented culture across Opella’s Manufacturing business, based in Virginia, Brisbane. Supporting the Manufacturing & Supply (M&S) organisation as a primary focus—while partnering broadly across Commercial, Corporate Functions, and strategic projects—this role ensures people strategies enable Opella’s ambition to deliver trusted, highquality consumer healthcare products. 

Working closely with the People Director ANZ and Opella’s People & Culture network globally, the role delivers core people processes, drives workforce capability, and champions an exceptional employee experience across the full value chain. 

 

 
Main Responsibilities:

Strategic Business Partnership 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Manufacturing & Supply leaders, providing insights on workforce planning, talent, culture, and organisational design. 

  • Partner with Commercial and crossfunctional leaders to align people strategies with business priorities. 

  • Provide peoplerelated insights, identify risks, and influence business decisions with sound judgement and data. 

Talent, Capability & Leadership 

  • Lead annual talent and succession planning processes across M&S, and contribute to enterprisewide talent cycles. 

  • Identify capability gaps and implement learning and development interventions that strengthen workforce effectiveness. 

  • Coach leaders to enhance team performance, improve employee engagement, and lead through change effectively. 

 

Employee Experience, Culture & Engagement 

  • Drive initiatives that enhance engagement, wellbeing, retention, and workplace culture. 

  • Support leaders with performance conversations, conflict resolution, and team effectiveness coaching. 

  • Promote Opella’s values, culture transformation, and peoplefirst leadership behaviours. 

  • Industrial Relations, Awards, Employee Relations & Governance 
  • Provide guidance on the application and interpretation of relevant Australian industrial awards, particularly those applicable to manufacturing, supply and operational teams. 

  • Ensure compliance with Award requirements, including classifications, pay structures, shift allowances, and rostering. 

  • Closely manage employee relations matters, ensuring early identification of issues, fair and consistent processes, risk mitigation, and legally compliant decisionmaking. 

  • Partner with leaders to constructively address workplace concerns, performance issues, and conflict, maintaining a positive and transparent employee experience. 

  • Work in partnership with CoEs and People Services to ensure accurate and compliant delivery of HR processes, policies, and regulatory obligations. 

Organizational Effectiveness & Change 

  • Drive organizational design solutions that enhance agility and support growth. 

  • Support major transformation initiatives (e.g., supply network resilience, digitalization, process optimization). 

  • Lead change management activities with empathy, structure, and compliance. 

Project Leadership 

  • Lead or support ANZ and AMEA HR projects, including policy modernization, capability uplift, DE&I, employee experience initiatives, and system enhancements. 

  • Represent People & Culture on Manufacturing & Supply governance forums as required. 

Health, Safety and Environment: Cooperate with Management to: 

  • Provide and maintain systems of work, and working environments that are safe and without risks to health. 

  • Provide the information, instruction, training and supervision necessary to ensure the health and safety of employees. 

  • Consult with employees about HS&E matters so that they can contribute to decisions affecting their health, safety and welfare. 

  • Ensure the health and safety of people visiting or working who are not employees by not exposing them to risk. 

  • Comply with corporate and legal health and safety requirements. 

  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors and immediately notify the Manager of any serious incidents; complete and Incident / Injury Report and forward to People & Culture within 48 hours where necessary. 

  • Undertake duties in accordance with the current Opella Policies and Procedures. 

  • Report non-conformance in accordance with the requirements of the Opella quality system 

 

Key Relationships 

  • Internal: Manufacturing & Supply Leadership team, Commercial Leaders, Finance, Legal, ANZ Executive Team, Global/Regional HR CoEs, People Services. 

  

About You 

We believe that professionals with the following experience and skillsets are well-suited for this position: 

Essential Skills & Experience 

  • 7+ years’ HR generalist or business partnering experience, ideally within manufacturing, supply chain, FMCG, or similar operational environments.  

  • Demonstrated capability in managing employee relations issues proactively and effectively, with strong judgement and experience resolving complex cases.  

  • Working knowledge of Australian industrial awards, with experience advising leaders on Award interpretation and compliance.  

  • Strong partnering, coaching, influencing and relationship building skills.  

  • Proven experience supporting multisite or diverse business units.  

  • Strong commercial and operational acumen 

Desirable Skills & Experience 

  • Experience in global matrix organizations.  

  • Exposure to both manufacturing and commercial business units.  

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, Psychology or a related field
