  • Liaise with SOC analysts and respond to phishing submissions and alerts under direction; may participate in on-call rotation
  • Support documentation, reporting, and tracking of security initiatives in a fully remote work environment

Job Description:

We are looking for an Information Security Engineer Intern to join Penn Mutual. This role will participate under guidance and supervision on a team of information security employees that own technical analysis, guidance, consulting, and configuration of information security tooling, operations, and projects. Information Security Engineers help resolve tactical and strategic initiatives related to the information security function.

About the Internship

  • 11‑week Summer Internship running from May 26, 2026, through August 7, 2026
  • Paid, full‑time opportunity (40 hours per week) offering real‑world, hands‑on experience
  • Fully remote role: company‑provided equipment will be supplied

Responsibilities

All responsibilities are performed under appropriate guidance and supervision and are designed to support learning, skill development, and exposure to information security practices.

  • ·Assist Information Security team members with risk analysis of identified issues or events
  • Monitor the effectiveness of security practices
  • Provide vulnerability remediation support
  • Liaise with and support security operations center (SOC) analysts with direction
  • May be required to serve in on-call rotation
  • Capable of assisting with proof-of-concepts or implementation of security tooling with direction
  • Review, analyze (with direction) and/or respond to phishing submissions and alerts
  • Support documentation, reporting or tracking related to security initiatives as assigned
  • Participate in an entirely remote working environment (such as using webcam and participating verbally or with reactions)

Education and Experience

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer-related or information security related field.
  • Information Security-related certification, education (classes), and/or project work preferred.
  • Rising junior or senior preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to understand and work in varied computing environments (like AWS Cloud and/or Microsoft Windows).
  • Understanding of basic network and application terminology (such as OSI model)
  • Basic knowledge of common vulnerabilities
  • Demonstrates a commitment to AI fluency by embracing AI tools and technologies to enhance individual and team performance, decision-making, and innovation
  • Basic problem-solving of computer related issues
  • Basic understanding of Identity Access Management preferred
  • Basic coding and/or scripting capabilities in a language preferred
  • Able to demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Work effectively with other employees in a fully remote environment
  • Able to effectively communicate

Salary: $30 an hour
