xScion is seeking a Splunk Resiliency Engineer to support enterprise customers in designing, implementing, and optimizing highly available and resilient Splunk environments within complex production infrastructures. This consulting role focuses on ensuring operational continuity, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and performance scalability for Splunk deployments supporting mission-critical security, observability, and operational analytics workloads. The engineer will work with client stakeholders including platform engineering teams, cybersecurity operations, cloud engineering teams, and enterprise architects to assess current Splunk architectures and implement resiliency best practices across distributed and hybrid cloud environments.
As a Splunk Resiliency Engineer, You Will:
Splunk Architecture & Resiliency Engineering
- Design and implement highly available Splunk architectures across distributed enterprise environments
- Architect and configure indexer clustering, search head clustering, and deployment server strategies to ensure platform resiliency
- Develop and implement disaster recovery (DR) and failover strategies for Splunk deployments
- Evaluate and optimize data ingestion pipelines and forwarder architectures for reliability and scalability.
Implement multi-site clustering and cross-region replication strategies where required.
Enterprise Platform Engineering
- Assess existing Splunk environments and develop resiliency improvement roadmaps
- Identify and remediate single points of failure across infrastructure, networking, and Splunk configurations
- Implement monitoring, health checks, and automated recovery procedures for Splunk components
- Optimize performance, storage utilization, and search workloads in large-scale deployments.
Cloud & Infrastructure Integration
- Support Splunk deployments across hybrid infrastructure environments including on-premise data centers and cloud platforms such as:
- Amazon Web Services
- Microsoft Azure
- Google Cloud
- Integrate Splunk with enterprise infrastructure including container platforms (e.g.,
Kubernetes), infrastructure automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
Operational Excellence
- Establish runbooks, operational procedures, and resiliency playbooks for Splunk operations teams
- Support incident response, root cause analysis, and system recovery efforts related to Splunk infrastructure
- Conduct capacity planning and resilience testing (failover, DR simulations).
Client Consulting & Advisory
- Provide technical advisory services on Splunk platform strategy, resiliency, and scalability
- Translate technical findings into actionable architecture recommendations for client leadership
- Deliver technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational guidance.
To Be Successful, You Need:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5–10+ years of experience in enterprise platform engineering, observability platforms, or log analytics systems
- 3+ years deep experience with Splunk Enterprise administration or engineering
- Hands-on experience implementing:
- Indexer clustering
- Search head clustering
- Distributed search
- Forwarder architectures
- Experience designing high availability and disaster recovery architectures
- Strong understanding of:
- Linux systems administration
- Networking fundamentals
- Distributed systems architectures
- Experience operating in large enterprise environments (10+ TB/day ingestion preferred)
- US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
- Splunk Cloud Platform
- Terraform
- Ansible
- Docker
- Experience supporting Security Operations Centers (SOC) or enterprise monitoring platforms
- Familiarity with observability ecosystems and data pipeline architectures
- Splunk certifications such as:
- Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect
- Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin
