Requirements:

  • Serve as a Network Virtualization Engineer and Developer supporting network build-out and deployments to the C2BMC Test Facility for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
  • Perform VMware administration including troubleshooting, patching, remediation, and break/fix activities in virtualization environments (vSphere, NSX, vSAN) and conduct ongoing system monitoring, backups/restores, and upgrades
  • Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity staff to maintain a high-quality test environment; perform vulnerability remediation and ensure DoD compliance; document changes in systems of record
  • Advise Government customer on system status, optimization and improvement efforts; assist deployment of new virtual machines and provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical problems

Job description

INNOVIM Defense Services is seeking a Network Virtualization Engineer to join our team supporting the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) program at the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). INNOVIM supports the development, implementation, sustainment, and operations of enclaves and systems that manage missile defense training, events, analysis, and operations.

The candidate will:

  • Will serve as a Network Virtualization Engineer and Developer supporting network build out and deployments to the C2BMC Test Facility as necessary to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
  • Work on complex assignments and perform a wide range of VMware system administration activities with little to no direct supervision.
  • Provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical problems.
  • Work closely with a team of system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity administrators to maintain a high-quality test environment for the Government customer.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation and mitigations to reduce cybersecurity risks and ensure DoD compliance.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations.
  • Document necessary system changes and actions in appropriate systems of record to ensure historical data is captured per customer and mission requirements.
  • Advise Government customer on system status, optimization and improvement efforts in accordance with program objectives and design baselines as needed.
  • Assist system administration team with the deployment of new virtual machines.
  • Perform administration of virtualization environments to include troubleshooting, break/fix activities, the patching and remediation of servers, and system audit log reviews as needed.
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience briefing customers and manage.
  • Have a strong understanding of troubleshooting and configuration of VMware to include protocols and switching, best practice configurations, connectivity, and networking concepts.

    Basic Requirements:

    • Must have 10, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
      • May be reduced with completion of advanced education
    • Must have 7, or more, years of directly related experience.
    • Must have 1, or more, years of experience working in a management or leadership role
    • Must have experience in Internet Protocols (e.g. DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL), firewall configuration and troubleshooting multiple network types of telecommunications infrastructures.
    • Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio
      drawing tools.
    • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers as well as independently on large field projects.
    • Must have a deep understanding of Foundational VCF Infrastructure including Virtualization (vSphere), Networking (NSX) and Storage (vSAN)
    • Must be able to use SDDC Manager to patch, upgrade and provide overall system maintenance.
    • Must have a fundamental understanding of how traffic flows through logical routers with the ability to implement these concepts in an NSX environment.
    • Must be able to configure distributed stateful firewalling, NAT, load balancing and micro segmentation using NSX.
    • Must have experience with the design, installation, upgrading and migration of storage using VMware vSAN.
    • Must be able to migrate virtual machines and workloads from deprecated versions of vSphere to VMware Cloud Foundation.
    • Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CySA, etc.) or higher
    • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

    Desired Requirements:

    • Have a demonstrated understanding of the project management lifecycle and related processes.
    • Have experience with PIM, L2 and L3 multicast and type I encryption devices
    • Have experience with VXLAN, Juniper Apstra, VMWare Aria and RHEL Ansible
    • Have experience with HPE server products
    • Have experience creating and configuring virtual distributed switches.
    • Have a VMware Certified Technical Associate - Data Center Virtualization (VCTA), VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV), VCAP Design, VCAP Deploy or VCDX-DCV Certification
    • Have knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations.
    • Have a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA) certification
    • Have experience with network monitoring
    • Have experience with Python or PowerShell programming and scripting.
    • Have a degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline
    • Have an understanding of various development life cycles such as the Systems Engineering life cycle (SELC), ITIL, SDLC, etc

    This position is expected to pay $ 110,000 - $ 130,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
