POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Sales & Special Events, the Sales & Catering Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through the strategic solicitation, development, and management of group, meeting, and event business for Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino. This position leads all sales and catering functions, including account development, client relationship management, Banquet Event Order (BEO) coordination, and execution of the departmental sales business plan to exceed established revenue goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
- Promote and support a culture of excellence at Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino by modeling STRC values, delivering exceptional guest service, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
- Provide exceptional guest service throughout all interactions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming regulations, internal controls, and departmental policies, including requirements of the Gaming Commission and applicable state and federal authorities.
- Proactively identify, solicit, and develop new business through direct sales calls, telemarketing, social media prospecting, site tours, reader board services, trade show participation, and ongoing networking with existing and prospective accounts.
- Respond promptly to inbound sales inquiries from potential clients seeking group room blocks, meeting space, catering, and event services; qualify leads and convert opportunities to confirmed, booked business.
- Serve as the primary client contact for all confirmed group and banquet functions; prepare and distribute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), coordinating all event details—including menus, AV requirements, room setup, rooming lists, VIP needs, and billing—with hotel, food & beverage, and banquet operations to ensure flawless execution.
- Schedule, facilitate, and lead weekly BEO and group resume meetings; distribute all pertinent group information—including VIP details, special requirements, and upcoming event needs—to hotel, food & beverage, and banquet staff in advance of each function.
- Develop and implement a targeted sales action plan for assigned market segments, incorporating room block strategies, direct mail, social media outreach, trade show participation, and property tours to drive group and event revenue.
- Meet or exceed established monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets and solicitation activity goals; prepare and distribute weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports, forecasts, and competitive market analyses to the Director of Sales & Special Events.
- Cultivate and maintain a healthy portfolio of accounts through consistent client outreach, entertainment, site inspections, and follow-up activity tracked in sales and catering software; maintain current knowledge of competitive market positioning and pricing to inform sales strategy.
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales & Special Events on budget development, revenue forecasting, advertising, and the annual sales business plan; provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations to support department objectives.
- Reconcile group billing with clients following each event; ensure accurate final invoicing and resolve any billing discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Demonstrate dependability and reliability by maintaining regular, punctual attendance and consistently fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities.
- Create, maintain, and facilitate a positive and safe work environment; promote healthy team member relations and report concerns to appropriate personnel.

What You'll Bring:
Education & Experience
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry and progressive hotel sales and catering management experience in a full-service hotel, resort, or comparable hospitality environment, with demonstrated advancement through increased responsibility positions.
- Willing and available to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
Skills, Abilities & Competencies
- Communicate effectively with guests, team members, and external contacts. Read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Demonstrated ability to solicit and close group, meeting, and catering business; knowledge of hotel operations, including food & beverage, room blocks, and event space management.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills; ability to manage multiple accounts and events simultaneously in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, sales and catering software, and property management and POS systems; experience using CRM or trace-based follow-up tools preferred.
- Sound judgment and decision-making ability; skill in using logic and reasoning to evaluate options, solve problems, and respond quickly under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, team members, and internal departments; high level of tact, patience, and service orientation when working with diverse guests and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and STRC internal controls, policies, and procedures; familiarity with health & safety standards as they relate to food service and event operations.

- Moves efficiently throughout all work areas.
- Current Washington State Food Handler’s Permit, or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Current Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) certification, or ability to obtain prior to start
