Requirements:

  • Manage receipt and processing of client profit statements and related payments, and oversee the backend booking process from start to finish in a GAAP-compliant environment.
  • Oversee creation and maintenance of client bookings; review data for accuracy and completeness for agents, considering revenue recognition standards.
  • Review client profit statements for accuracy, adherence to contract terms, anomalies, discrepancies, and drivers of fluctuations; monitor reporting frequencies and generate period estimates in compliance with FPA and GAAP.
  • Liaise with clients and agents on invoices, statements, debits, tax matters (1099, 1042, etc.), and other account questions; oversee approvals and manage identified funds and payment errors; continually seek process improvements and monitor metrics.

Job description

UTA seeks an experienced manager to join its Client Accounting team. The Manager, Client Accounting will lead the Profit Participations accounting team and will serve as the point person for all accounting issues related to that department. This role will report to the Director of Client Accounting. The Manager, Client Accounting will be responsible for working closely with agents, assistants, and studio contacts to capture timely and accurate booking information in a GAAP-compliant accounting environment. On a day-to-day basis, this role will manage the receipt of profit participation statements and oversee the backend booking process from start to finish. The Manager, Client Accounting, will establish and monitor quality metrics and continuously seek improvement in the process of tracking client bookings and all elements of contingent compensation. The ideal candidate will be a team player, problem solver, detail-oriented, effective communicator, and should be able to excel in a fast-paced work environment.

The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $105,000 commensurate with experience and skills

What You Will Do:

Service Delivery

  • Manage receipt and processing of client profit statements and related payments, along with handling any other type of backend compensation

  • Oversee creation and maintenance of client bookings and review data for accuracy and completeness for agents while considering revenue recognition standards

  • Review client profit statements for accuracy, adherence to contract terms, anomalies, discrepancies, and drivers of fluctuations

  • Monitor statement reporting frequencies and generate appropriate period estimates in compliance with FP&A and GAAP guidance

  • Oversight of team members to ensure bookings are correct and client payments are processed accurately, in compliance with all legal, GAAP, and tax requirements

  • Liaise with clients and agents directly on invoices, statements, debits, tax matters (1099, 1042, etc.) and any account questions/concerns they may have

  • Communicate with internal and external parties on all booking matters

  • Provide exceptional customer service to agents and other stakeholders

  • Oversight/approval of activities that are performed at all levels (ex. Batch approvals)

  • Oversee identified funds for the entire department and triage client payment errors

  • Manage any ad-hoc projects and special requests as they come up

Processes and Controls/Standards

  • Implementing process improvements across team and systems and provide status updates to upper management

  • Mapping and understanding all current processes and adhering to best practices (ex. 3 business day turnaround for deposits)

  • Ownership of key controls and best practices

People

  • Establish close partnership and collaborate on various initiatives for the team

  • Manage whole department team on a daily basis

  • Monitoring and reviewing metrics for all members of the team

  • Regularly syncing with GL and FP&A teams

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred

  • 6+ years of accounting experience

  • Entertainment experience required, Profit Participations experience strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with contingent compensation deal terms, reviewing contracts, and understanding profit participation statements

  • Prior experience in a customer service focused role preferred

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Self-motived and tenacious; to be successful, the role requires persistence and follow-up

  • Excellent in all Microsoft systems and other accounting systems

  • Experience with financial & enterprise systems such as NetSuite

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle very high volume of transactions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent understanding of fundamental accounting principles (Ex. Revenue Recognition)

  • Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to interact with individuals at all levels (including management)

  • High-energy level and a proven work ethic. Self-starter with the ability to work independently but also collaboratively

  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to processes and procedures while working in a very fast-paced environment
