Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience); Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 4+ years of experience in water/wastewater infrastructure projects; proficiency in pump station design and utility infrastructure.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience; strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent oral and written communication.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, able to work independently; demonstrated leadership, mentoring ability, and capacity to manage multiple tasks under pressure.

Requirements:

  • Lead water/wastewater infrastructure projects (pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities) for North Carolina communities.
  • Design and oversee pump stations and utility infrastructure; plan and implement project concepts and methods; manage internal project tasks.
  • Mentor and lead technical staff, coordinate with teams and clients, and communicate effectively (oral and written).
  • Manage multiple tasks under pressure, attend office/client meetings, and travel as needed to ensure project delivery.

We’re seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our Utilities team in our Outer Banks office, leading projects that make a real difference—from pipelines and pump stations to storage facilities—supporting communities across North Carolina. 


This role is listed as hybrid-remote, but we’re looking for someone within commuting distance of the Outer Banks who can attend the office or client meetings about three days per week.

Requirements

  • Exhibit leadership in planning and/or design concepts and methods
  • Ability to successfully manage all internal aspects of projects/project tasks
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail; excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and lead technical staff
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience

Working Conditions

The assignment may occasionally require repetitive physical tasks (such as operating a computer), standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, extended time travelling in a vehicle, and carrying equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.
