Description:
The Claims Adjuster – Transportation is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and managing transportation-related claims, primarily focused on trucking property damage and related liability exposures.
This role serves as a key point of coordination between insureds, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the claims lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling challenging conversations professionally while maintaining a high level of organization, documentation, and attention to detail. This role requires proactive phone communication and formal claim status reporting every 30 days with insureds and claim stakeholders throughout the life of the claim. The adjuster is expected to initiate direct contact with insureds early in the claim process and maintain regular phone communication to guide the claim toward resolution.
Working alongside an experienced transportation team, this role provides the opportunity to deepen expertise within the trucking insurance sector and develop specialized knowledge across related coverages such as inland marine and liability.
Requirements
Claims Investigation & Evaluation
· Investigate and manage transportation-related claims, including trucking accidents, property damage losses, and liability exposures
· Review policy terms and coverage to determine claim validity and appropriate resolution
· Evaluate damages and prepare detailed claim reports documenting findings and recommendations
· Coordinate or conduct field inspections when necessary
Stakeholder Coordination
· Serve as a primary point of contact for insureds, brokers, and third parties throughout the claims process
· Coordinate with repair facilities, investigators, attorneys, and other external partners
· Maintain professional, confident communication even in challenging claim situations
Claims Resolution
· Evaluate claim damages and negotiate settlements within established authority
· Collaborate with internal leadership on complex claims or escalated matters
· Work with legal counsel when claims require litigation support or dispute resolution
Documentation & Reporting
· Maintain accurate and complete claim documentation
· Prepare clear written reports summarizing investigations and claim outcomes
· Manage multiple claims simultaneously while meeting internal deadlines
Qualifications
