  • Ability to work independently and reliably in a remote setting with clear communication skills, including sending professional templated outreach emails to external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Map the different recycling opportunities offered by local governments and haulers across Oregon and compile findings in a structured Excel database using a provided template
  • Gather information from official city, town, and county websites and input data into the Excel database
  • Refine data in the EO Portal: review community acceptance lists and ensure alignment with each community’s acceptance list; note mismatches and send templated emails to community owners to resolve them
  • Assist with analyzing data on the use of education and outreach materials

Role Overview

We are seeking detail-oriented and proactive interns in our organization. This is an exciting time to join CAA as we are in the early stages of implementing the Recycling Modernization Act in Oregon, the first US packaging EPR program to launch in the U.S.  

Our interns will play a critical role in helping deliver projects and key business deliverables for CAA. These individuals will play a key role leading some of our work in helping to map the landscape of collection opportunities across the state and assist with analyzing data on the use of education and outreach materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • This 2-month research internship involves mapping the different recycling opportunities offered by local governments and haulers across the state. The intern will gather information from official city, town, and county websites and compile findings in a structured Excel database using a provided template.
  • Data refinement in the E&O Portal: using data from the above project, review community acceptance lists in the E&O Portal and ensure they align with each community’s acceptance list. Note any mismatches and send a templated email to the community owners to resolve them

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, specifically excel to organize, filter, and update data.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately collect, review, and validate information from multiple public sources.
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to send professional, templated outreach emails to external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Public Policy, Data Analytics, Communications, or a related field
  • Ability to work independently and reliably in a remote setting

Compensation & Other Information

  • Location:Fully Remote, working in Pacific Standard Time
  • Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour. Since this is a temporary position, it is not eligible for benefits
  • Interns must have their own laptop and access to high-speed internet.
