This contract Okta Identity Engineer role supports a large federal agency by onboarding enterprise applications into the Okta platform and strengthening secure access to hosted applications and digital identities across a large-scale IT environment. The engineer will lead technical integrations for SSO, MFA, and provisioning, design and implement Okta Workflows for identity lifecycle automation, and integrate workflows with downstream systems such as ServiceNow, while partnering with application owners and business stakeholders to define access policies and streamline intake processes through an Identity Service Center. This role requires seasoned identity and access expertise, hands-on technical skills, and strong communication and planning to drive efficient, secure onboarding and automation outcomes. It's a high-impact opportunity to shape identity and access security within a major federal agency.


This is a multi-year contract position involving a large US federal agency. Candidates with previous federal contracting experience are preferred. U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. If hired, all work related to this role must be performed within the continental U.S.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical onboarding of enterprise applications into Okta, including SSO configuration
  • Implement and validate MFA configurations for onboarded applications
  • Configure and manage provisioning integrations as part of application onboarding
  • Collaborate with application owners to gather integration requirements
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define and document access policies
  • Develop and maintain onboarding runbooks and reusable templates
  • Support campaign-driven intake processes through an Identity Service Center
  • Design, build, and test Okta Workflows to automate identity lifecycle events
  • Create approval workflows, access certification campaigns, and role-based access provisioning
  • Integrate Okta Workflows with downstream systems (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing workflows to reduce manual effort and improve cycle times

  • Experience creating approval workflows and role-based access provisioning
  • Experience supporting access certification campaigns
  • Experience integrating Okta Workflows with downstream systems (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Ability to gather integration requirements and define access policies with stakeholders
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
  • Ability to perform all work within the continental U.S.
