Senior Software Engineer, Tax Platform

We are composed of multiple, highly skilled teams of engineers that own Guest and Host facing product experiences and backend systems that unlock and protect Airbnb’s ability to operate across the vast number of jurisdictions around the world. 

• Work on launching and expanding our protection products across global markets.
• Deliver on a strategic, multi-year platform roadmap and global rollout. 
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, data engineering, and numerous platform teams within Airbnb.
• Communicate clearly in technical documents/artifacts with detailed technical solution while highlighting benefits, risks and tradeoffs considered
• As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help us meet this challenge with innovative solutions that enable business agility, efficiency, and accuracy. You are eager to understand complex systems top to bottom and thrive working across technologies and codebases. In addition, you will excel at solving a range of complex problems, developing end-to-end features, and strengthening your domain knowledge over time.
  
  

A Typical Day: 

• Build microservices, APIs to drive platform integrations across web and mobile platforms
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build interfaces and systems that can evolve to meet critical business needs
• Build our platforms--infrastructure, applications and tools, and gain expertise in distributed systems, large compute clusters and petabyte-scale storage infrastructure
• Be part of an impactful team working on scaling distributed applications in a highly-available 24x7 environment, make architectural trade-offs applying design patterns and disciplined execution
• Partner with other engineering teams in Airbnb to serve our users holistically.

Your Expertise:

• Bachelor’s degree BTech or BE, or equivalent technical qualification
• 7+ years industry experience
• Strong coding, data structures and algorithm experience using Java or Kotlin
• Exposure to architectural patterns of a high-scale web applications, such as well-designed APIs, data pipelines
• Experience or desire to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with design, product and data science partners
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work well within engineering organization and cross functions.
