CPA designation (or equivalent) and a post-secondary degree in accounting or finance
Minimum 5+ years of tax accounting experience across public accounting and industry, ideally with a publicly traded Canadian multinational
Experience preparing and reviewing quarterly tax provisions under IFRS and Canadian corporate tax returns
Proficiency with computerized accounting systems (e.g., BPC, NetSuite), TaxPrep, and Microsoft Excel; knowledge of the CICA In-Depth Tax program and software industry experience are assets
Requirements:
Oversee the quarterly consolidated tax provision process under IFRS IAS 12 and related disclosures
Prepare and/or review Canadian corporate tax filings (T2, T106, T1134) and coordinate international filings with global finance teams
Lead tax research, planning, and due diligence for complex issues, including M&A activity and restructuring
Interface with tax authorities, manage tax audits, and monitor tax developments and governance standards

Duties & Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Oversee the consolidated tax provision process for the quarterly financial reporting and related tax disclosures in accordance with IFRS – IAS 12.
Prepare and/or review Canadian corporate tax filings including T2, T106, T1134.
Co-ordinate with our global finance teams to ensure international tax filings are accurately completed and timely filed by local tax advisors.
Coordinate complex tax issues and prepare memos to support restructuring, technical issues, and/or filing positions.
Assist in tax research for complex tax issues and planning assignments incorporating tax laws of multiple North American and foreign jurisdictions.
Conduct tax due diligence as part of the M&A transaction process including identifying risks, mitigating factors, and providing overall tax structuring advice.
Participate in the integration of new acquisitions, including roll out of tax compliance processes, corporate financial systems, reporting requirements, and governance standards.
Keep current with the latest tax developments and issues that impact the organization such as analyzing new or changed tax legislation, court decisions, rulings, etc.
Interface with tax authorities, including assisting in the coordination of tax audits and preparation of responses.
Manage ad-hoc day-to-day issues as escalated by the group finance teams.
Qualifications:
Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
Post-secondary degree with a major in accounting or finance
Minimum 5+ years of experience of tax accounting experience with a combination of accounting firm and industry experience, ideally with publicly traded, Canadian multinational company.
Experience in the preparation and review of quarterly tax provisions under IFRS
Experience in the preparation and review of Canadian tax returns
Familiar with preparing basis and surplus calculations
Completion of the CICA In-Depth tax program an asset
Software industry experience an asset
Strong working knowledge of computerized accounting systems (i.e. BPC, NetSuite), TaxPrep, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
