BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is seeking a Manager of Enterprise Architecture to lead the evolution and execution of our enterprise-wide architecture strategy. In this role, you will guide long-term technology roadmaps, influence investment and product decisions, and ensure consistent alignment between business strategy, architecture standards, and technology delivery. This leader will play a critical role in shaping how platforms, solutions, and capabilities are designed and governed across the enterprise—balancing innovation, risk management, and operational excellence.

- Confidence partnering with technology, product, and business leaders to guide investment decisions and solution design.
- Experience managing multiple initiatives and priorities, providing transparent status, risk mitigation, and contingency planning to senior leadership.

- Healthcare Data Domain Expertise
- Familiarity with healthcare data ecosystems, including claims, membership, authorizations, and care management datasets, and understanding of regulatory compliance (HIPAA, etc.)

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a diverse workforce within a matrix environment and be able to communicate effectively in obtaining and synthesizing requirements.
- Manages a team of Enterprise Architects and works across the architecture disciplines on strategic planning and implementation, including working to develop organizational long-term and short-term goals, develop objectives and monitor completion.
- Provides architectural leadership, guidance, and support for technology teams, including leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of enterprise architecture technology strategies.
- Influences technology investment and product selection decision to support organization mission through use of EIT.
- Define EA maturity road map and practices related to EA governance and partners with key stakeholders to implement key architecture governance frameworks including ongoing process review, improvements, execution, analysis & adoption of new processes.
- Ensures compliance of solutions and alignment with technology assurance standards and reviews deliverables for accuracy and quality.
- Manages team’s workload, and effectively communicates status to the Program, demand manager and senior management including risk mitigation and contingency planning.
- Contribute to the development of SDLC procedures to support EA controls and metrics.
- Develop and report business-relevant metrics to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the enterprise architecture program, facilitate appropriate resource allocation and increase the maturity of the architecture practice.
- Identifies and solves project issues; oversees all aspects of multiple project development life cycles from enterprise architecture perspective.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science related field or equivalent work experience is required. Equivalent years of experience are determined as one year of technical experience for every year of college.
Experience
- 7 years - Experience in IT Architecture or related field required
- 5 years - Experience leading teams of technical resources in diverse disciplines is required.
- Experience with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, etc
