Responsibilities / Position overview:

The VP, Scientific Services provides strategic oversight of high-impact publications/scientific communications accounts, and supervises a team of scientific directors and medical writers. This role serves as a strategic partner to clients and actively contributes to business development and organic growth of accounts.

 

Key Responsibilities;

  • Oversee high-impact publications/scientific communications accounts for medical affairs clients
  • Direct strategy and approach to communication activities, including but not limited to strategic publication planning/execution, evidence/landscape analyses, and scientific narrative development
  • Play an active role in mentoring staff, building competency of scientific strategy among the team to support the business
  • Add value to assigned client accounts as Senior Scientific Strategy Lead
  • Lead strategically-focused client interactions and moderation of workshops/meetings
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop creative solutions to client challenges; foster opportunities for expanded client interaction and engagement
  • Lead scientific component of proposals and pitch presentations by providing strategic insight and therapeutic background information and guidance to the project team
  • Create opportunities for new business through professional contacts, quality work, and positive relationships with clients
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop creative solutions to client challenges; fosters opportunities for expanded client interaction and engagement
  • Participates in department leadership activities and management duties, including but not limited to, developing guidelines, revising department policies and procedures
Qualifications:

Required Skills:

 

  • Flexible, deadline oriented, and ability to work as part of a multifunctional team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of good publication practices and industry guidelines (CMPP preferred) 
  • Ability to quickly and amicably respond to changing client needs and conditions
  • Ability to evaluate, interpret and analyze both written and verbal communications
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters cooperation and teamwork
  • Understand and comply with policies and procedures as outlined in the Lumanity Corporate Policies and Procedures manual

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • PhD, PharmD, or MD required
  • Minimum 8+ years medical communications experience in an agency setting
  • Oncology expertise preferred
