Senior UX/UI Designer (Fintech) - Remote Portugal

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a world-class technology consultancy as a Senior UX/UI Designer leading design efforts on a high-impact fintech project. You'll contribute to the modernization of complex financial applications, creating intuitive, user-centered experiences that balance business requirements with technical feasibility. This role offers you the opportunity to build scalable design systems, advocate for user-centered design principles, and work in a dynamic environment solving challenging design problems that directly impact the financial domain.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll lead UX/UI design for a fintech application modernization initiative, with primary focus on UI design and component library development. The role involves creating and maintaining a scalable component library in Figma, ensuring alignment with the project's design system and Material UI (MUI) standards. You'll develop user-centric solutions including wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs while collaborating closely with stakeholders to balance business needs, user requirements, and technical constraints. Supporting the development team, you'll ensure design consistency and accessibility compliance throughout the product lifecycle. You'll facilitate workshops, gather feedback from users and stakeholders, and iterate on designs using tools like Jira, GitLab, and Storybook to integrate design seamlessly into the development process. Experience in fintech or understanding of risk assessment and financial systems is highly valued.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• Proven UX/UI design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design work
• Figma expertise: Solid experience creating and maintaining component libraries and design systems in Figma
• Atlassian tools proficiency: Experience with Jira and Confluence for project collaboration and documentation
• Development tool familiarity: Knowledge of GitLab and Storybook for design-to-development handoff
• Material UI (MUI) experience: Strong plus for familiarity with Material UI design framework
• Graphic design skills: Strong visual design capabilities with meticulous attention to detail
• Autonomous working style: Comfortable managing multiple priorities independently in fast-paced environments
• Fintech experience: Background in fintech or finance-related projects is highly valued
• Collaboration skills: Ability to work closely with stakeholders, developers, and product teams
• User advocacy: Strong commitment to user-centered design principles throughout the product lifecycle
• Language requirement: Fluent English (mandatory)

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Background or understanding of risk assessment and financial systems
• Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
• Familiarity with front-end technologies to better collaborate with developers
