  • Configure and monitor Google Admin Console settings, security controls, authentication policies, and device management, as well as Groups, Shared Drives, and data governance policies.
  • Provide Tier-3 escalation support and coordinate with IT Security, Help Desk, and Infrastructure teams on Workspace security and compliance initiatives.

Systems Engineer

Summary:
The systems engineer is responsible for the administration of all aspects of Young Life server infrastructure and networks, under the supervision of the IT Infrastructure Manager. This person conducts IT infrastructure projects as assigned and assists with any technical support problems as required. The systems engineer assists in the research, selection, installation and maintenance of infrastructure and related hardware and software for the mission as requested.


Essential Duties:
  • Conduct assigned infrastructure projects, including the coordination of efforts with Help Desk, P.C. Tech, and infrastructure teams, ensuring quality, on-time project completion.

  • Shares responsibility for the setup and maintenance of Young Life server, network and infrastructure systems.

  • On call 24/7; must be accessible via cellular telephone or established telephone number(s).

  • Assist with the management of all physical and virtual servers, ensuring that each server has the maximum possible uptime.

  • Troubleshoot problems with in-house and external web, mail and application services.

  • Aid in creating policy and procedures to protect and manage the system and network environment.

  • Maintain a broad knowledge of server software, operating systems and hardware.

  • Monitor system logs and activity on all servers and devices.

  • Attend and actively participate in scheduled team meetings.

  • Coordinate with systems engineering, network engineering, development team and Help Desk to schedule releases of software updates.

  • Investigate, analyze and resolve hardware and associated software and communications problems on Young Life computer systems.

  • Perform hardware repairs and maintenance on a wide range on computers, appliances, and peripherals. Request and coordinate vendor installation, repair and maintenance services when required.

  • Provide level-three support to Service Center and remote Young Life staff.

  • Review, prioritize and process problem reports; document the progress of projects through updating and maintaining those problem reports on a timely basis.

  • Provide assistance with advanced hardware and systems software technical assistance and support; troubleshoot and resolve system hardware, software, and communications failures and conflicts.

  • Assists in implementing and maintaining IT processes for data recovery, redundancy, and security.

  • Implement and monitor available tools to be proactive in maintaining network and system up-time.

  • Provide software, server, and network technical assistance and advice to the Young Life Help Desk and other Young Life staff as needed.

  • Provide maintenance and installation services for Young Life remote locations

  • Education:
  • College degree in a computer related field desired (experience may be considered in lieu of education).

  • Microsoft Certifications and other IT related certifications desired.


  • Experience Required for The Job:
  • Three to five years of experience in Windows Systems Engineering/Administration.

  • Three to five years of experience in Networking administration and design.

  • Experience in writing, debugging, and troubleshooting PowerShell.

  • Experience working with VMware and Hyper-V virtualization solutions. Working knowledge of vSphere specific terminology, concepts and tools, including vCenter, vMotion, powerCLI, HA, vSphere Replication, and data store configuration and management.

  • Familiarity with enterprise level backup and recovery systems.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information. Experience delivering infrastructure solutions in secure environments. Knowledge of infrastructure security methods, including firewalls, proxies, encryption, and security appliances required.

  • Track record of effectively dealing with technology vendors and hosting providers.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skill; ability to communicate both verbally and written to all levels of personnel and business clients, varying language and technical skills.

  • Experience with AWS and or Azure.

  • Ability to create and install SSL certs.

  • Bonus Desired Experience
  • Experience with SAN technologies including Fiberchannel core competencies and relevant hardware and operating system deployments.

  • Working knowledge of Linux Systems.

  • Familiarity with wireless bridging solutions and wireless network infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with Cisco CLI and Meraki.

  • Experience with IAM solutions or a curiosity to learn.

    The Google Workspace Administrator is responsible for the administration, security, and ongoing operational support of Young Life’s Google Workspace environment. This role ensures reliable access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Groups, Google Calendar, and related Workspace services, while enforcing organizational security policies, identity governance, and compliance requirements. Under the supervision of the IT Infrastructure Manager, this position supports enterprise collaboration systems, manages user lifecycle operations, and assists with related infrastructure projects.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Administer and maintain the Google Workspace environment, including Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Groups, Meet, and related services.
    • Manage user provisioning and deprovisioning, including account lifecycle management, Organization Unit structure, and role-based access controls.
    • Configure and maintain Google Admin Console settings including security controls, authentication policies, and device management.
    • Manage Google Groups structure, permissions, ownership, and membership, ensuring proper access to file shares and shared drives.
    • Support Shared Drives administration including ownership models, sharing controls, retention policies, and permission auditing.
    • Implement and maintain security best practices such as Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) enforcement, Conditional Access equivalents, and session controls.
    • Configure and monitor Google Workspace audit logs and reporting dashboards to identify suspicious activity and compliance gaps.
    • Administer Google Vault for eDiscovery, retention policies, legal holds, and export requests as required.
    • Support data governance initiatives including Drive sharing restrictions, external sharing policies, and data Data loss Loss prevention Prevention (DLP) settings.
    • Troubleshoot Workspace authentication, email routing, delivery issues, and end-user access problems.
    • Provide Tier-3 escalation support for the Service Center and remote Young Life staff related to Google Workspace services.
    • Coordinate with IT Security, Help Desk, and Infrastructure teams to implement Workspace security and compliance initiatives.
    • Maintain documentation of Google Workspace configurations, policies, and operational procedures.
    • Coordinate with vendors and Google support for troubleshooting and escalations as needed.
    • Assist with infrastructure-related projects that integrate with Workspace, including SSO, identity federation, and automation tools.

    Education

    • Experience with Google Vault, retention policies, and eDiscovery workflows.
    • Experience with automation tools such as GAM (Google Apps Manager), Google Workspace API s (Application Program Interfaces), or scripting with PowerShell/Python.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff.
    • Experience working with IT security frameworks and applying security controls to collaboration platforms.
    Bonus DesiredPreferred Experience
    • Experience with endpoint management solutions (ChromeOS management, mobile device management, Windows/macOS integration).
    • Experience with Microsoft 365 or hybrid collaboration environments.
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services or Azure cloud services and identity integrations.

    Note: The anticipated hourly rate for this position can range from $66,130 - $82,770 depending on relevant education, experience, and location.
