Every time someone gets approved for a loan, a savings account, or a line of credit there's a decision happening in the background. A fast, automated, intelligent decision. At Provenir, we build the software that powers those decisions for banks and financial institutions around the world.

We've created two brand new roles to build something that doesn't yet exist inside our business: a dedicated R&D function at the crossroads of data science, product, and engineering. No inherited process. No existing playbook. Just two exceptional people, the mandate to find what's missing, and the backing to build it.

You'll sit within our Product function, working in close partnership with Data Science and Engineering. Data tells you what's wrong with what you have. Finding what you're missing requires conversations. You'll own your workstream end to end from research insight through to product roadmap recommendation, no handoffs.

If you do your best work inside well-defined processes with a long onboarding runway, we'd rather you knew that upfront. But if you've always sat awkwardly between the academic and the commercial, if great research going nowhere frustrates you, if you've been waiting for a role that asks you to do both keep reading.

What You'll Do

• Lead original research into new AI capabilities Generative AI, Agentic AI, Machine Learning focused on what Provenir should build next

• Turn research into concrete product recommendations the business can act on

• Talk to customers and internal experts to surface unmet needs before they show up in the data

• Collaborate with engineering and data science peers to move ideas from research into reality

• Own the product narrative around your workstream, from first hypothesis through to roadmap

What We're Looking For

Technically, you bring…

• A strong academic foundation in data science Masters, PhD, or equivalent applied research experience

• Real, hands-on commercial data science experience not purely theoretical

• Practical exposure to Generative AI, Agentic AI frameworks, or advanced Machine Learning

• The ability to make credible recommendations even when the data picture isn't perfectly clean

Commercially, you think…

• In problems before solutions business needs first, science second

• Like someone who can own a product workstream without a PM translating for you

• With an instinct for what customers need, not just what the numbers show

As a person, you are…

• A self-starter you add value before anyone has to ask

• Equally comfortable in a strategic conversation and a deep technical one, and able to switch between them in the same meeting

• Energised by fast-scaling environments, not exhausted by them

• Clear and confident communicating with engineers, customers, and leadership alike

• Excited by what this role doesn't have yet, rather than unsettled by it
