Roles & Responsibilities

  • Working towards completion of bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.

  • Working knowledge of Python or JavaScript, with the ability to write scripts, call APIs, and adapt code samples to solve real problems.
  • Completed coursework or personal/academic projects demonstrating programming ability in Python or a comparable language; comfortable building small automation scripts from scratch.

Requirements:

  • Partner with business stakeholders across departments to document and map existing workflows and identify friction points, bottlenecks, and manual effort.
  • Research, evaluate, and prototype AI tools and platforms (including large language models, workflow automation tools, and AI agents) suited to identified business needs.
  • Build and test proof-of-concept automations using tools such as Power Automate, n8n.io, OpenAI APIs, Anthropic Claude Code, Claude APIs or similar platforms.
  • Document solution architectures, implementation steps, and user guides for deployed automations; present findings and recommendations to IT leadership and business stakeholders in a clear and structured manner.

AEM is looking for a highly motivated AI Automation Intern.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders across departments to document and map existing workflows and identify friction points, bottlenecks, and manual effort.
  • Research, evaluate, and prototype AI tools and platforms (including large language models, workflow automation tools, and AI agents) suited to identified business needs.
  • Build and test proof-of-concept automations using tools such as Power Automate, n8n.io, OpenAI APIs, Anthropic Claude Code, Claude APIs or similar platforms.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to iterate on solutions and move successful prototypes toward production readiness.
  • Document solution architectures, implementation steps, and user guides for deployed automations.
  • Present findings, prototypes, and recommendations to IT leadership and business stakeholders in a clear and structured manner.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with AI tools and large language models (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) and enthusiasm for applying them to real-world problems.
  • Working knowledge of Python or JavaScript, with the ability to write scripts, call APIs, and adapt code samples to solve real problems.
  • Completed coursework or personal/academic projects demonstrating programming ability in Python or a comparable language; comfortable building small automation scripts from scratch.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex processes into actionable steps.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently and meet deadlines.

Experience to be Gained:

  • Direct exposure to enterprise IT operations, information security, and SaaS infrastructure at a mission-driven environmental company.

  • Practical experience building and deploying AI-powered tools with measurable business impact.

Additional Information:

  • Paid Internship – hourly rate dependent on class status
  • Full time Summer 2026
  • This is a remote position that can be performed from anywhere in Canada. 
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position is not eligible for benefits.


Canadian Compensation Range: A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $17.25 - $23.00 per hour. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. AEM considers a wide range of factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education, licensure and certifications, key skills as well as other market and business considerations when extending an offer. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
