Roles & Responsibilities

  • Canadian or US citizenship (or ability to acquire).
  • TC ATPL or CPL with Instrument rating and valid TC Category 1 medical.
  • Minimum 3 years of fixed-wing flying experience in combat support or tactical operations within the last 10 years, or a former military pilot with at least 3 years of tactical flying in the last 10 years.
  • Minimum 1,000 hours jet multi-engine PIC; fighter, formation, and low-level flying experience are assets.

Requirements:

  • Maintain operational safety and regulatory compliance for all TA missions, including risk assessment and adherence to TC/TA rules; comply with foreign regulations when operating outside Canadian airspace.
  • Act as Detachment Commander (DETCO): pre-detachment planning, in-field customer liaison, operational control of detachment personnel and aircraft, supervision of the daily flying program, and generation of sortie and situation reports.
  • Ensure mission execution in accordance with TA COM, AFM, and SOPs; deviations only for safety; promptly communicate issues affecting performance.
  • Provide leadership and support for TA personnel, recognize exceptional performance, and contribute to pilot professional development and knowledge management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain operational safety: assess and mitigate risks to Top Aces (TA) equipment, personnel and reputation.
  • Maintain Transport Canada (TC) ATPL or Commercial Pilot license, TC medical certification, and Company Operations Manual (COM) required currencies.
  • 100% compliance with applicable TC and/or TA regulations and applicable mission set training rules.
  • When TA aircraft are operated outside Canadian domestic airspace, pilots may be required to refer to foreign publications and adhere to foreign regulations in order to safely and effectively carry out their mission.
  • Conduct operations in accordance with TA COM, Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) and TA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Deviations from established procedures should only occur for reasons of safety.
  • Professional, polite, proficient combat support in accordance with customer defined requirements.
  • Effectively communicate any issues (knowledge, systems, procedures, proficiency, support) that impact your ability to accomplish the above.
  • Promptly communicate any incident that results in, or has a high probability of resulting in: damage, injury, significant positive/negative perception by the customer, or media attention.
  • Support engagement of other TA employees through positive, proactive leadership.
  • To facilitate appropriate recognition, communicate any exceptional performance by any TA employees.

 

Act as Detachment Commander (DETCO)

  • As tasked by Ops perform role of DETCO, to include:
  • Proactive coordination prior to detachment/tasking to include participation in pre-detachment teleconferences.
  • In situ liaison with Customer to define mission requirements/schedule and manage operational issues.
  • Operational control of TA detachment personnel & aircraft.
  • Supervise execution of daily flying program.
  • Produce sortie reports and daily situation reports, account for and forward aircraft fuel receipts.
  • Act as TA On-Scene Commander during execution of Emergency Response Plan.

 

 

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

 SUBJECT MATTER / OPERATING LOCATION EXPERTISE

  • Identify and establish relationships with key players at operational level or those who define/direct training requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate reference material in knowledge database: regulations, procedures, maps, mission data cards, etc.
  • Maintain tactical mission relevance of reference material through, at minimum, an annual review/update. Any item that could significantly impact TA operations should be immediately forwarded to Project Manager (PM) CATS.
  • As required, produce Gen Book amendments/additions and updates to phase briefs.
  • Aid in the evolution and delivery of professional development training for all pilots.
  • Provide, at minimum, annual update briefings.

 

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold Canadian or US citizenship (or be able to acquire)
  • TC ATPL or CPL and Instrument rating, Valid TC Category 1 medical;
  • Minimum 3 years of fixed wing flying experience within the last 10 years conducting combat support or tactical operations, or a former military pilot from the Canadian Armed Forces, a selected NATO member nation or the RAAF, with at least 3 years of tactical flying experience within the last 10 years.
    • Note: Former military pilots from other Nations whose training and operational experience are assessed as equivalent to Canadian Armed Forces standards may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
  • Minimum 3 years experience and 1000 hours jet multi-engine PIC, fighter experience an asset;
  • Experience with formation flying and low level flying;
  • Electronic Warfare (EW), Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Close Air Support (CAS) and Target Towing Operations experience an asset;
  • Detailed knowledge of Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) regulations and Fighter Force Training Rules;
  • Able to proficiently communicate in English; French an asset
  • Ability to perform all work in support of our Corporate Values of Safety, Teamwork, Focus, Innovation and Integrity

Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities:

 You will have the following responsibilities in order to comply with the company's Occupational Health and Safety program:

  • Working in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety acts and regulations
  • Following safe work practices and procedures and using safeguards and personal protective equipment
  • Reporting hazards (such as unsafe situations and activities) to their supervisor immediately.

 

Security Clearance Requirements/ CGP / ITAR:

 Position requires Level II Clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
