Requirements:

  • Originate and structure high-quality counterparties across IPPs, utilities, traders, corporates, and data centers; lead transaction structuring with the credit team, ensuring rigorous analysis of risk allocation, downside scenarios, and protections.
  • Refine and expand commercial strategy, sharpen positioning versus traditional collateral solutions, and build repeatable origination channels and strategic relationships.
  • Guide the evolution of the underwriting and origination platform by collaborating with engineering to translate market realities into scalable workflows and AI-powered risk tools.
  • Help build the financial rails of future energy systems through decisive leadership and cross-team collaboration.

To accomplish our aims, we leverage proprietary power market models, AI-driven underwriting technology, and deep expertise in structured finance and insurance capital to redefine how forward power contracts are secured and financed.

The Role

Comity is looking for an Executive Director, Head of Originations to lead the commercial scaling of our insurance-based collateral solution across PPAs, battery tolling structures, interconnection agreements, and other structured renewable energy contracts.

You will own originations end-to-end: refining commercial strategy, sourcing and structuring transactions, and channeling market insight into our underwriting and technology platform.

In this role, you will:

  • Originate and structure: Proactively source high-quality counterparties across IPPs, utilities, traders, corporates, and data centers. Lead transaction structuring in close collaboration with our credit team, ensuring rigorous analysis of contractual risk allocation, downside scenarios, and structural protections.

  • Refine and expand our commercial strategy: Continuously sharpen our positioning versus traditional collateral solutions. Leverage your network and market judgment to build repeatable origination channels and deepen strategic relationships.

  • Guide the evolution of our platform: Act as a core user of our underwriting and origination systems, engaging with engineering to translate market realities and transaction complexity into scalable workflows and AI-powered risk tools that increase our speed, precision, and volume.

  • Clear communicator: You move fluidly between structuring, commercial negotiation, underwriting discussions, and product conversations, and you explain complexity with clarity and conviction.

  • Team-oriented operator: You understand that building a product requires tight collaboration across teams. You operate with high ownership and low ego, and you elevate the performance of the teams around you.

  • Technology enthusiast: You are excited about leveraging a proprietary, AI-powered underwriting platform that enhances your judgment and scales your impact. You see technology as a competitive advantage that increases speed, precision, and commercial reach.

  • Collateral insight: You understand how collateral is structured and the various forms of credit support used in PPAs and interconnection agreements (e.g., letters of credit, surety bonds). You recognize inefficiencies in the current system, and see the opportunity to modernize and optimize how risk is secured.
