Technical Expertise:

Must have 2.5 + years proven experience. Proficiency in SketchUp for 3D modelling and design.

Strong skills in Excel, particularly for data analysis, pricing, and error-checking.

Ability to extract and analyze Bill of Materials (BOM) reports.

Industry Knowledge:

Understanding of UK Building Regulations, particularly Part B, Part K, and Part M.

Familiarity with construction materials and structural design principles for ramp and step units.

Educational Background & Experience:

Degree or relevant qualification in Design, Architecture, Surveying, or Engineering.

Previous experience in construction design, technical drawing, or 3D modelling.

Soft Skills & Collaboration:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client meetings and team collaboration.

Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and lateral thinking abilities.

Ability to manage and maintain organized design documentation.

Core responsibilities:

3D Modelling & Design: Use SketchUp to create accurate and detailed ramp and step unit designs based on customer specifications and UK building regulations.

Regulatory Compliance: Design and specify ramp and step units in accordance with Part B (Fire Safety), Part K (Protection from Falling, Collision, and Impact), and Part M (Access to and Use of Buildings). Identify and notify customers of any non-compliant designs.

Bill of Materials (BOM) & Costing: Extract BOM reports from SketchUp and transfer data into Excel for pricing and cost estimation.

Error Checking & Data Validation: Efficiently navigate Excel to identify and correct errors in pricing and material estimates.

Design Interpretation: Analyze 3D models to assess installation feasibility, identifying any restrictions or design constraints.

Technical Drawings & Documentation: Produce detailed technical sheets with clear dimensions, annotations, and specifications for ramp and step units.

File & Record Management: Follow design and file-keeping protocols to maintain well-organized and accessible design records.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, attending meetings to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress.

Client Engagement: Conduct professional client-facing meetings, actively listening to customer needs and providing clear, well-informed design solutions.

Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Apply lateral thinking to overcome challenges and optimize designs beyond routine tasks.
