OVERVIEW:
The Pricing Analyst works closely with Commercial Leadership, including Sales, Product Line Management, and Customer Service, to accurately price new business opportunities in order to achieve profitability objectives. This role requires a thorough understanding of flexible packaging cost structures, including direct materials such as polymer film substrates, paper, foil, inks, adhesives, coatings, and resins, as well as a strong knowledge of direct labor requirements for flexible packaging converting processes, including rates, scrap factors, efficiency metrics, overhead, shipping, packaging, and other related costs to ensure precise and competitive pricing. The Pricing Analyst also evaluates historical performance within specific product segments to identify trends and provide insights that support strategies for winning new business and optimizing overall profitability.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist Customer Service with pricing orders as needed.
• Review and resolve pricing issues prior to invoicing.
• Complete quarterly price updates in accordance with customer agreements, utilizing escalator/de-escalator worksheets and commodity index values.
• Maintain customer price lists, including item-level pricing within the JDE system.
• Gather quoting details from Sales, Technical, Operations, and Purchasing teams.
• Utilize existing cost models along with current customer, product, and market insights to compile costs and apply appropriate margins.
• Lead the bid process, ensuring all required information is complete and submitted on time.
• Analyze costs applied in JDE compared to cost models and resulting margins to ensure accuracy and identify any item setup errors.
• Compare pricing and costs across products, customers, markets, and volumes to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provide supporting documentation to justify non-market price increases when necessary.
• Analyze and improve pricing and quoting processes.
• Utilize existing cost models or develop updated cost models as necessary.
• Support special costing and pricing-related projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounting or Finance with responsibility for pricing decisions; experience in a flexible packaging manufacturing environment preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of sales order processes and pricing concepts.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Advanced organizational and communication skills with the ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
• High level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks within compressed timeframes.
• Ability to travel for work assignments as required. Travel for initial training is required.
