Roles & Responsibilities

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or technical/production environments within fashion, retail or consumer-facing multinational organizations.
  • Degree holder in Textiles, Equipment/Apparel/Footwear or related fields.
  • Subject matter expertise in Equipment and Accessories, LEAN manufacturing, automation, patterns, laboratory standards and testing, and materials.
  • Ability to break down complex engineering situations and communicate technical feedback effectively; able to work independently or within cross-functional, multicultural teams; strong English proficiency.

Requirements:

  • Represent commercialization in all early product development cycle meetings with VF Asia Product teams to ensure viability of development samples meet commercialization requirements.
  • Partner with Sourcing Development, vendor development, engineering, and production teams to ensure accuracy in pattern, fit, materials and assembly techniques, and ensure PD and vendor teams have conducted correct laboratory testing to ensure product performance.
  • Work closely with Vendor/factory for PP sample readiness; review and approve Pre-production samples, track downstream teams against timelines to ensure production readiness is completed before Preproduction Meeting; drive the Pre-Production Meeting as handoff to VF Quality Operations and Sourcing Operations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Operations, Sourcing Operations and Sourcing Development to resolve production concerns; partner with VF costing team to validate sample and production patterns against yield utilization.

Position Summary:

The Equipment and Packs Commercialization Engineer is responsible for bringing VF owned brand equipment and packs designs to life by engineering products for efficient manufacturability, lowest cost and highest quality and performance. Based on one of VF key manufacturing regions, within one or more of VF’s strategic vendors, this role serves as a critical liaison between the sourcing development and sourcing operation teams, ensuring that product intent is maintained while meeting commercial and operational requirements.

You will work hands-on with factory and VF cross function (sourcing development teams, Quality Ops, Sourcing Ops) ensuring commercialization best practice feedback is captured early within the Product development cycle. As VF’s commercialization engineer, you will create in partnership with the vendor to ensure product readiness to hand-off to VF production teams – ensuring VF’s high standards of quality, functionality and durability are maintained.

How You Will Make a Difference

What you will do:

  • In partnership with VF nominated Asia Product teams, you will represent commercialization in all early PD cycle product review meetings and use your SME production knowledge to ensure viability of development samples to commercialization requirements.
  • Partner with Sourcing Development and vendor development, engineering, and production teams to ensure accuracy in pattern, fit, materials and assembly technics and ensure PD and vendor teams have conducted correct laboratory testing to ensure product performance.
  • Work closely with Vendor/factory for PP sample readiness. Review and approve Pre-production sample.
  • Track and hold accountable downstream and update stream teams against timelines to ensure production readiness is completed before Preproduction Meeting.
  • Driving vendor/factory to conduct Pre-Production Meeting as handoff the production readiness process to VF Quality Operations and Sourcing Operation.
  • You will partner with Quality Operation, Sourcing Operation and Sourcing Development team   to solve any production concerns.
  • You will partner with VF’s costing team to validate sample and production patterns against yield utilization.

Skills for Success

  • Years of related professional experience: 3-5 years relevant experience in manufacturing or technical or production environments working for reputable, fashion, retail or consumer-facing multinational organizations.
  • Educational position requirements: Degree holder in Textiles, Eq./Apparel/ Footwear related fields.
  • Subject Expert In: Equipment and accessories, LEAN manufacturing, Automation, patterns, laboratory standards and testing / materials.
  • Able to breakdown complex engineering situations and information into easily communicable mails in a verbal or written format.

  • Knowledge of Equipment and Accessories with a key focus on the all technical constructions, laboratory testing, material performance, fit and wear, LEAN production, automation and speed development.
  • Ability to operate on your own or within a cross-functional, multi cultural team and be seen as a positive contributor.
  • Ability to communicate technical feedback in an impactful and easy to understand format to ensure fast buy-in for troubleshooting.
  • A strong understanding of paper patterns creation and an understanding of digital product creation will be a strong advantage.
  • Strong upholder of VF’s core pillars.
  • Language Proficiency: Excellent English, local regional language
