Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 5-7 years of hands-on corporate accounting experience and solid GAAP knowledge
  • CPA certification (or actively pursuing) with MBA or master's degree in accounting preferred

  • Prior experience in manufacturing/distribution or related environment; private-equity backed portfolio company experience and/or food & beverage industry exposure is a plus

  • Lead monthly close and reporting for the corporate entity, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and cost/variance analysis to ensure a 4-5 day close
  • Manage external audit processes, oversee preparation of audit requests, and prepare audit schedules and accounting memos with recommendations on accounting treatments
  • Oversee daily cash reporting and develop weekly cash forecasts and the 13-week rolling cash forecast in partnership with the Corporate Controller and CFO
  • Train and oversee a small accounting team; drive process improvements and support budgeting/forecasting and preparation of financial and managerial reports

SENIOR ACCOUNTING MANAGER - CARROLLTON, TX

OVERVIEW:

This growth-oriented, hands-on Sr. Accounting Manager will own the day-to-day accounting and monthly closing process for the Corporate entity. In addition, this role will provide counsel and guidance and review to six plant locations (with Plant Controllers), provide guidance on regarding proper accounting treatment of unique business transactions, drive improvements in monthly reporting and close processes assist in monthly reporting and analysis, work with business leaders across the organization to prepare variance analysis and inputs to forecasting and annual budgeting processes, prepare regular and adhoc KPI reporting, prepare daily cash reporting and weekly cash forecast reporting with high visibility, and lead the annual external audit, tax prep, and special projects as needed.

The successful candidate exhibits a positive, hard-working attitude in a fast-paced environment and has strong interpersonal, analytical, and accounting skills. This person has high attention to detail and is highly driven and self-motivated, willing to dive in and solve problems with little direction.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Support the Corporate Controller to optimize all aspects of the corporate P&L, including headcount, SG&A spend, and other cost drivers and be able to respond to questions regarding the Corporate P&L.

  • Complete monthly period-end close related tasks including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and cost/variance analysis, ensuring accurate, consistent, and timely reporting of financial results (currently 4-5 day close).

  • Manage external audit and oversee preparation of annual external audit requests to provide timely and accurate information. Prepare audit schedules and accounting memos as necessary, including researching proper accounting treatment and making recommendations to management regarding accounting practices.

  • Oversee daily cash reporting to ensure accurate and timely reporting is available to management each morning. Utilize daily cash information to inform weekly cash forecasting activities and build the 13-week rolling cash forecast in partnership with the Corporate Controller and CFO.

  • Assist with forecasting and annual operating plan development and analysis and work with department leaders and plant controllers as needed to review results and incorporate feedback into the forecast.

  • Timely and accurate completion of assigned project work including process improvement and ad hoc analysis.

  • Prepare Financial Reporting, Managerial Reporting, monthly presentation slides, and financial analysis. Will also create reports as needed to support operational decisions as well as provide insight into cost drivers.

  • Assist with the administration of Catalyst (our reporting tool) by maintaining the account hierarchy and updating monthly financial packages.

  • Drive business process improvements and communicate effectively across the organization at all levels to gain alignment and execute changes effectively.

  • Train, develop, and oversee a staff of two (staff accountant and senior accountant) to accomplish team and business goals and objectives

  • Some light travel may be required on occasion to visit plant locations, conduct inventories, work on special projects, etc.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Five to seven years of hands-on, progressive corporate accounting experience, with a demonstrated understanding of GAAP
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with all levels of the organization
  • Results oriented, able to complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner
  • Advanced problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent task management and follow-up skills
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and other MS products
  • Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, and comfort-level with ERP and BI solutions
  • Team focused with the ability to provide support and add value when the need arises while also contributing to a positive and productive work environment

WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE:

  • CPA or actively working towards obtaining CPA certification, preferred
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, distribution or similar environment
  • Experience in food and beverage industry a plus environment
  • Experience working in a private-equity backed portfolio company
