Job description

Company Description

In 2019, we started building profitable startups from scratch. We brought together top engineering minds from places like Princeton and MIT to drive the highest success rate in the industry and turn company building into a science.

During that time, we’ve built ten high-growth companies, driving $200M+ in revenue. Along the way, we’ve developed an engineering approach to entrepreneurship rooted in algorithms and advanced mathematics.

Now, we’re working to automate company building to the point that we can press a button to launch profitable companies—ventures that can reinvest their own resources to become enterprises that help millions, or even billions, of people.

Position Description

Realign, Inc. is a Mechanism portfolio company that operates a career development platform that combines data-driven career testing with expert human coaching. We have served over 1 million customers and established a clear product-market fit.

As the CEO of Realign, you will be responsible for turning a company that is currently near-breakeven into a profit center within your first year. You will own the entire business, including P&L, board management, product strategy, growth marketing, and the scaling of our two distinct engines: a high-velocity SaaS platform and a premium career coaching service.

Initially, your focus will be on product-led growth and performance marketing. You must be a builder/scaler who can engineer the funnel to acquire customers profitably at scale while optimizing the margins of the coaching business. You will identify the constraints preventing profitability and ruthlessly eliminate them, whether they are in ad accounts, user flows, or the operational cost structure.

However, your role will quickly evolve. Once the "Profit Machine" is built, you will be responsible for scaling the organization into a global enterprise, expanding into new verticals (e.g., B2B, Resume Building), and driving toward a $1B+ outcome.

As the CEO, you will have access to Mechanism’s in-house Practice Areas for operational support across Growth, Product, Engineering, Design, Operations, People, Finance, and Legal. Our in-house experts are at the top of their fields and are here to provide world-class strategic guidance and execution.

Additionally, you will participate as a member of the company’s board of directors.

What You'll Do

  • Own the P&L and the Mission: You are accountable for taking the company to profitability in year 1 and driving rapid, sustainable growth thereafter.

  • Drive Product-Led Growth: Architect and optimize the user journey to maximize conversion, retention, and LTV across our business lines.

  • Master Performance Marketing: Oversee and optimize paid acquisition channels (e.g., Google, Meta, TikTok) to ensure high-volume, profitable customer acquisition.

  • Scale the Service Engine: Optimize the operations of the coaching business to ensure healthy unit economics and gross margins while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

  • Build the Team: Recruit, hire, and manage a team of top performers. You will set the standard for talent density and execution velocity.

  • Set the Strategy: Own and develop the strategic vision of the business in coordination with the board of directors.

  • Identify and Capture Alpha: Relentlessly hunt for high-leverage opportunities—new channels, new products, or operational efficiencies—that create non-linear value.

Who You Are

  • You are a Builder/Scaler: You don't just manage systems; you engineer them for growth. You are comfortable getting your hands dirty to fix a funnel or debug a campaign, but you know how to build systems that scale beyond your personal effort.

  • You are a "Double Threat" in Growth: You possess a rare combination of deep expertise in Product-Led Growth AND Performance Marketing. You understand how product mechanics and paid acquisition amplify each other.

  • You are Obsessive about Unit Economics: You understand that growth without profit is vanity. You focus on LTV/CAC, contribution margin, and payback periods.

  • You are Ready to Bet Big on Yourself: You don’t want to be a cog in an established corporate machine. You want to build an enterprise.

  • You are a Natural Leader: You make complicated things simple and foster an environment of rapid execution, learning, and fun.

  • You are Intellectually Honest: You leverage data over intuition. You are extremely receptive to feedback and constantly seek the truth of the business.

  • You are Relentlessly Resourceful: You do not get blocked. You find a way to win.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven Executive Experience: A track record of scaling a B2C SaaS or Marketplace business from early stages to significant revenue and profitability.

  • Deep Growth Literacy: Expertise in the mechanics of PLG (activation, retention, viral loops) and the rigorous management of paid media budgets.

  • Operational Rigor: Experience managing a P&L and optimizing a service-based or operationally complex business line (e.g., coaching, marketplace supply).

  • Commercial Mindset: A history of driving revenue and profit, not just user growth.

  • Analytical Mastery: The ability to extract valuable insights and narratives from large data sets and use them to drive strategy.

  • Leadership Potential: The capacity to eventually hire, train, and lead a high-performance team as the business scales.

What to Expect

This role will be challenging, and it will change substantially as the business scales. You must be in the day-to-day, hands-on, and responsible for executing across all business areas initially. As the business grows, you must build a team to support scale.

  • 60 Days

    • Take full operational and P&L responsibility for the business.

    • Launch high-leverage initiatives in product leg growth.
