What to expect

As a Junior Software Engineer - SRE/Infrastructure (Co-Op), you will be working with a driven and innovative team to radically transform how healthcare works with our innovative platform. This position is for individuals with a strong development background who are ready to take a chance on building enterprise-grade infrastructure and tooling. You will need to be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate innovative thinking, and work well in a team-based setting.

Responsibilities

• Research, plan, and implement full-stack software solutions to solve infrastructure-related issues, such as (but definitely not limited to!) building admin panel UIs, data ingestion engines, developing automated reporting, automated provisioning of infrastructure, etc
• Work with a cross-functional team to understand existing pain points and workflow problems, and build tools to help your coworkers deliver excellent service
• Occasionally flex into product development where appropriate, to ensure our clients have useful and functional tools to adjust our product to their needs

• Development frameworks: Ruby on Rails, Python Flask, Angular, Vue.js
• Infrastructure:
  • Database: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
  • Deployment: Azure, Kubernetes, Docker
  • Observability: Grafana, InfluxDB, Elastic APM, Kibana

Qualifications

• Understanding of HTTP, REST principles, and the MVC design pattern
• Demonstrated ability to read and write code (in any language)
• Familiarity with databases and ability to construct basic SQL queries
• Fundamental understanding of Docker and container based deployments
• Collaborative in nature with strong interpersonal skills focused on building relationships and working in a collaborative environment with diverse cross-functional teams
• Strong organizational skills. Ability to organize work according to project priority and time management principles and processes.

• Hands-on ability in mapping, documenting, implementing and maintaining processes and policies
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced (remote) environment
• Ability to juggle several projects with a spirit of flexibility and a positive outlook
• Collaborative mindset with ability to build relationships across any organization level
• Outstanding oral, written, reporting, and presentation skills with the ability to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users
• Displays an analytical mindset and is detail-oriented, highly organized with a pragmatic approach, and can prioritize competing deliverables
• Possesses excellent judgment and can make thoughtful decisions as a creative problem solver
