Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 3-5+ years in Industrial Sales, Technical Sales, or Outside Sales within metal fabrication or thermal processing industries
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and mechanical specifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM (Infor)

Requirements:

  • Lead strategic business development and new business development for custom-engineered metal fabrications within Aerospace, Chemical Processing, and Automotive sectors
  • Manage and grow relationships with Engineers, Project Managers, and Procurement Departments across the Eastern US
  • Translate complex customer requirements into RFQs; collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure fabrication feasibility and provide technical consultation
  • Execute a strategic territory plan for the Eastern US, maintain a high-activity CRM pipeline, and monitor market trends in heat treating, primary metals, and general industrial manufacturing

Alloy Engineering, a 100% employee owned company, headquartered in Berea, OH, is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to lead business development and account management for our Custom Metal Fabrication division across the Eastern United States.

In this role, you will leverage a consultative sales approach to provide engineered solutions for high-temperature and corrosive industrial environments. You will manage the full sales lifecycle—from interpreting mechanical drawings and blueprints to negotiating contracts for ASME Heat Exchangers and Pressure Vessels.


Key Performance Keywords & Responsibilities:


Strategic Business Development & Technical Sales

  • New Business Development: Identify and capture market opportunities for custom-engineered metal fabrications within the Aerospace, Chemical Processing, and Automotive sectors.
  • Account Management: Maintain and scale long-term relationships with Engineers, Project Managers, and Procurement Departments.
  • Technical Consultation: Translate complex customer requirements into RFQs; collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure fabrication feasibility.
  • Territory Management: Execute a strategic sales plan for the Eastern US territory, maintaining a high-activity pipeline in the CRM.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends in heat treating, primary metals, and general industrial manufacturing.

Product & Material Expertise

  • High-Temperature Alloys: Promote solutions involving Nickel, Hastelloy, Inconel, Incoloy, and Stainless Steel.
  • Engineered Products: Drive sales for ASME Heat Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, Furnace Muffles, and Industrial Fans/Blowers.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience: 3–5+ years in Industrial Sales, Technical Sales, or Outside Sales within the metal fabrication or thermal processing industry (preferred)
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and mechanical specifications.
  • Sales Acumen: Proven track record in Value-Added Selling and Consultative Sales cycles.
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM (Infor).
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 50% within the Eastern US for on-site customer visits and trade shows.

$75,000 base + commission
