Requirements:

  • Participate in a one-year comprehensive training covering the federal Government BD lifecycle, including opportunity identification, qualification, pipeline management, capture, and proposal development.
  • Complete 160 hours of job-related instruction to obtain national skills standards and on-the-job training provided by the apprentice employer.
  • Pass skills tests at each segment of the program and complete the 12-part curriculum.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply learned BD practices in real-world settings to drive measurable growth outcomes.

This is a remote position.



Federal Business Development Apprenticeship
Location: Remote

This apprenticeship is open to all interested individuals. *Veterans can use their educational benefits for government business development training.



OST’s Government Business Development Apprenticeship program is a comprehensive one-year training program in the entire federal Government business development lifecycle, including opportunity identification and qualification, pipeline management, capture, and proposal development.

The apprenticeship combines 160 hours of job-related instruction to obtain national skills standards and on-the-job training provided by the apprentice employer. Participants must pass skills tests at each segment of the program.

Employers use this Government-certified program to prepare their future workforce with essential BD skills for Government contracting. The program consists of 12 parts that include various courses.

A strong candidate for OST Global Solutions, Inc. (OST) Business Development (BD) Apprenticeship Program is a motivated, high-potential professional seeking to either launch or strategically advance their career in BD. This individual is committed to mastering the full BD lifecycle and leveraging the program to drive measurable growth outcomes—personally, professionally, and organizationally. They will also demonstrate dedication to a rigorous, multi-month program, showing resilience, curiosity, coachability, and the drive to apply what they learn in real-world settings to produce outcomes.


 

The ideal candidate may fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • Career Changers: Professionals from adjacent disciplines (e.g., operations, marketing, technical roles) looking to transition into BD with a structured, high-impact learning experience.
  • Early-Career BD Professionals: Individuals with limited but hands-on BD exposure who want to elevate their skills, confidence, and performance to become standout contributors on a BD team.
  • Team Enhancers: Participants from companies with developing or informal BD structures, looking to introduce rigor, strategy, and repeatability into their team’s BD processes.
  • Future Executives: Ambitious individuals with long-term goals of becoming a senior BD leader (e.g., Chief Growth Officer, VP of BD, Director of BD), and who seek foundational and strategic BD acumen to lead growth organizations effectively.
  • Entrepreneurial Builders: Aspiring founders or current small business owners who want to build and scale a private sector company through the advanced BD practices acquired through OST’s program.
  • Internal Champions: Employees within existing companies aiming to create or lead a new BD Group and implement best practices to professionalize BD within the organization.

  • How to Develop a Compliant Proposal
  • Writing Persuasive Government Proposals
  • Winning Government Cost Proposals
  • Proposal Editing Workshop
  • Proposal Graphics COnceptualization and Design
  • Desktop Publishing for Proposal Professionals


Veterans may be eligible for funding for the program under any of the following programs:
  • Chapter 30: Montgomery GI Bill
  • Chapter 33: Post 9/11 GI Bill
  • Chapter 35: Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance
  • Chapter 1606: Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve Program
