Business Intelligence Application Developer

Ascentium is seeking an individual to play a significant role in our Advanced Analytics practice as a Mid-level Business Intelligence Application Developer. This position will support our Navy client, and other defense projects as assigned. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your Qlik, Power BI and other application development skills to create a mission-critical solution onboard Naval IT systems. Take your BI skills to the next level by developing a state-of-the-art user interface, far beyond that of traditional dashboards to serve as an intelligent assistant for onboard Naval IT personnel.  

Qualified candidates should be proficient with the Qlik Sense data analytics and visualization platform and have used their skills to build creative, elegant solutions that function more like an interactive business application than a static dashboard. Candidates will have used Qlik to access data in SQL Server, have experience creating efficient data models, and have prepared and cleansed data using ETL approaches. Experience using Qlik to access data via the REST API is highly desired.  

 Required Qualifications 

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearance. 
• United States Citizenship
• 2 years experience in creating solutions as a business intelligence developer, software engineer, or data engineer. 
• 2 years to develop dynamic solutions in Qlik 
• Experience with business analytics or as a process improvement engineer 
• Proficient in the use of Python programming 
• ETL experience (e.g., data cleanse, prep, normalization techniques) 
• SQL RDBMS experience - preferably Microsoft SQL Server. Big Data platform experience is a plus (e.g., Hadoop, NoSQL, Kafka). 
• Strong interpersonal communication skills for condu cting comprehensive requirements gathering and technical demonstrations to clients and senior leadership. 
• Independent, self-starter and problem-solver. 
• Familiar with Agile software development processes

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with the REST API. 
• Experience in automation engineering and orchestration. 
• Experience with Power BI Report Server. 
• Familiarity with other BI platforms such Tableau and Power BI. 
• Experience with other programming or scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, DAX). 
• Experience consulting clients with digital transformation solutions. 
• Working towards/ Completed Bachelors Degree in MIS, BIS, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related IT degree. 
• Proficiency with low-code/no-code development (e.g., Power Platform). 
• Experience with edge-cloud technologies.
