Roles & Responsibilities

  • 10+ years in Infrastructure Database Engineering with at least 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including networking and storage constructs; deep knowledge of Firestore and Redis
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC); experience with database migration from on-prem to cloud
  • Experience leading database modernization and cloud migration initiatives; familiarity with DevOps/SRE operating models; master's degree

Requirements:

  • Provide technical leadership and execution oversight for enterprise database platforms across OCI, GCP, NoSQL in-memory databases, and cloud infrastructure; stabilize, modernize, and scale database platforms while guiding engineering teams and stakeholders
  • Drive database platform strategy and architecture across relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server), cloud-managed databases (OCI Autonomous Database, Google Cloud Firestore), and NoSQL/in-memory stores (Redis)
  • Oversee platform stability and operations, including production and non-production environments; manage incident response, root-cause analysis, remediation, and improvements in reliability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Lead automation efforts through self-service provisioning, proactive monitoring, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including runbooks and enhanced observability

How you will make a difference
XTIVIA is looking for an Infrastructure & Database Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership and execution oversight for enterprise database platforms across OCI and GCP, NoSQL & In-Memory databases, and Cloud Infrastructure.


We need a strong, hands-on leader who can stabilize, modernize, and scale database platforms while guiding database engineering teams and stakeholders. You will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems that provide reliability, performance, and availability and scale up to millions of concurrent users.


Key Responsibilities

Drive database platform strategy across:

  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Database & Technology Scope:

  • Relational Databases: Oracle (on-prem and OCI), PostgreSQL, SQL Server.
  • Cloud & Managed Databases: OCI Autonomous Database, Google Cloud Firestore, and Cloud-native database services.
  • NoSQL & In-Memory Stores: Redis (caching, session management, pub/sub), Key-value and document databases, and Distributed consistency models.

Platform Stability & Operations:

  • Stabilize and optimize production and non-production database environments.
  • Oversee production operations for: Transactional databases, Distributed NoSQL systems, and In-memory data stores.
  • Lead incident response, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), and remediation efforts.
  • Improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead improvements through: Automation and self-service provisioning, Runbook creation & proactive monitoring, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Requirements

What you bring to your new team

  • 10+ years in Infrastructure & Database Engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical database engineering expertise in large scale environments.
  • Hands-on experience with OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), GCP, and its unique networking/storage constructs.
  • Deep understanding of Firestore (collections, sub-collections, security rules) and Redis (data types, persistence models, and sentinel/cluster modes).
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience with database migration from on-prem to cloud.

This position has an expected rate of $70 - $75 an hour.
