This is a remote position.
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Technical Architect to lead the technical direction for a high-profile digital assessment service within the public sector. You will be responsible for advising on technical feasibility, defining the architectural blueprint, and overseeing a delivery team during an intensive 13-week Alpha phase.
As the technical lead, you will bridge the gap between product requirements and technical execution, ensuring that the service is scalable, secure, and aligned with GDS (Government Digital Service) standards.
● Technical Leadership: Guide the team through Alpha and Beta phases, advising on technical direction, feasibility, and constraints.
● Architectural Design: Lead the design of products, own the architecture blueprint, and justify technical decisions to stakeholders.
● Team Oversight: Oversee the dev team’s work, prioritizing tasks, removing blockers, and identifying technical roles needed for future phases.
● Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Senior Product and Delivery Managers. Engage with technical leads in other departments to support cross-government collaboration.
● Governance & Compliance: Own the security posture and compliance planning, ensuring adherence to NCSC security principles and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
● Research & Validation: Conduct technical reviews of existing government platforms (e.g., WebCAF) to validate feasibility for adaptation.
● Core Tech Stack: Deep expertise in Django architecture and Azure cloud patterns.
● Security & Identity: Proven experience with OIDC/MFA and implementing NCSC security principles.
● Public Sector Experience: Significant experience as a Technical Architect/Lead on central government digital products.
● GDS Standards: Success in leading technical teams through Government Alpha & Beta service assessments.
● Standards & Design: Strong knowledge of API design and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
● Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
