Job description

This is a remote position.

We’re looking for a Financial Controller to take charge of Tequity’s financial systems — from client contracts to monthly reporting — and ensure smooth, transparent, and efficient financial operations across the company.
This role sits at the intersection of finance, operations, and strategy, and is ideal for someone who enjoys building systems, maintaining order, and providing financial clarity to leadership. You’ll work closely with the founders, managing everything from invoicing and collections to expense control and monthly analysis.
If you’re someone who takes ownership, loves structure, and has a strong eye for detail, this is a great opportunity to build scalable financial foundations for a fast-growing product and technology company.

What You’ll Be Doing

  1. Contract Management:
Take ownership of all client and vendor contracts—monthly retainers, manpower outsourcing, or end-to-end projects—across geographies (US, Africa, MENA, India). Ensure every engagement is financially structured, documented, and tracked properly.

  2. Invoicing & Documentation:
Prepare and send out monthly client invoices on time, maintaining an organized record of all financial documents and ensuring alignment with contractual terms.

  3. Revenue Tracking & Collections:
Monitor incoming payments, follow up on overdue invoices, and ensure timely cash inflows. Build systems to track outstanding balances and payment timelines efficiently.

  4. Expense & Payroll Management:
Oversee monthly payroll, vendor payments, and all company expenses including software subscriptions, travel, and reimbursements. Ensure payments are accurate, compliant, and timely.

  5. Financial Analysis & Reporting:
Manage monthly financial statements, revenue recognition, and MIS reporting. Build systems for accurate forecasting and provide actionable insights to founders.

What We’re Looking For

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CA Inter, or MBA in Finance.

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in financial control, accounting, or FP&A.

  • Strong understanding of contract-based revenue and expense systems.

  • Excellent English communication and professional email etiquette — you’ll be interacting regularly with clients and vendors.

  • Experience managing multi-country billing or payments is a plus.

  • High level of ownership, organization, and attention to detail.

  • Comfortable working in dynamic, high-growth environments.

  • Proficiency with financial tools (Excel, Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or similar).

Why Join Us?

  • Build the financial backbone of a fast-scaling tech and design company.

  • Work directly with the founders on strategic financial decisions.

  • High-impact role with full ownership of financial systems and processes.

  • Exposure to multi-country operations and client engagements.

  • Flexible work setup — remote-friendly, with preference for Bangalore or Mumbai.

  • Competitive compensation and room to grow with the organization.
