  • Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for revisions on structure, argumentation, language, and citation formats, while collaborating with authors and ensuring adherence to editorial policies

Job description

This is a remote position.

Lex Erudites is a student-led initiative focused on fostering socio-legal discourse and scholarship. Our primary goal is to provide a platform for young minds from diverse fields to share their informed opinions and contribute to an engaged citizenry. As an e-journal, we aim to advance legal knowledge globally and bridge the gap between legal communities while building a community of aspiring law students and professionals.

We are looking for passionate and motivated students to join our team as Student Editors. As a Student Editor, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to the scholarly output of Lex Erudites by reviewing articles, blogs, and research papers across various domains of law. Being a Student Editor of a peer-reviewed journal, you will gain experience and exposure to the nuances of legal research and writing.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review and Evaluation: Conduct thorough and detailed reviews of articles, research papers, and other scholarly works assigned to you. Evaluate the content based on prescribed parameters such as relevance, originality, clarity, and adherence to academic standards.


  2. Critical Analysis: Apply critical thinking skills to analyze the arguments, evidence, and conclusions presented in the works. Assess the strength of the legal reasoning, logical coherence, and the accuracy of legal citations.


  3. Cross-check and Fact-Checking: Verify the content of the work against prevalent legal positions, statutes, case law, and scholarly literature. Ensure that the information presented is accurate, up-to-date, and supported by credible sources.


  4. Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and integrity of the scholarly content by identifying any inconsistencies, inaccuracies, or gaps in reasoning. Recommend improvements to enhance the overall quality and impact of the work.


  5. Suggest Changes and Revisions: Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for revisions to the authors. Propose changes in structure, argumentation, language clarity, and citation format as needed to improve the overall coherence and effectiveness of the work.


  6. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with authors, fellow editors, and editorial board members to discuss review outcomes and decision-making processes. Maintain clear and professional communication channels to facilitate the editorial workflow and ensure timely publication schedules.


  7. Adherence to Editorial Policies: Familiarize yourself with the editorial policies, style guidelines, and ethical standards of the journal. Ensure that all reviews and editorial decisions align with these policies and uphold academic integrity.


  8. Continued Learning and Development: Stay updated with current legal trends, research methodologies, and scholarly publishing practices. Engage in ongoing learning opportunities and professional development activities to enhance your editorial skills and contribute effectively to the journal's mission.
