Strong knowledge and practical experience with L2/L3 networking
Hands-on experience with managed switches and routers, including setting up Linux or FreeBSD as a router
Hands-on experience with firewalls and understanding of firewall best practices, including at least one of nftables, iptables, pf, ipfw, ip filter
Solid understanding of firewall best practices (secure configuration, least privilege, safe exposure, etc.)
Requirements:
Manage a small in-datacenter private network consisting of 2 racks
Work with the existing setup that includes Cisco ASA (ASA firewall) and 2 managed switches trunked via optics
Set up VM-based configurations for testing purposes, including Linux-based environments and netem to simulate "bad Internet" conditions
Test various CDNs (content delivery networks), including creating/maintaining setups needed for consistent testing

The Role
We’re looking for a Mid-level Network Engineer to take ownership of our current in-datacenter private network and help us expand the networking stack over time. This role mixes hands-on network operations today with more advanced routing / DDoS / traffic analysis work in the future as we grow.
