Roles & Responsibilities

  • Degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
  • P.Eng. certification or Registered Member of MAA (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of fire protection engineering experience with a focus on assessments and strong knowledge of Canadian fire and building codes; nuclear-related project experience required.
  • Experience managing projects (assessments, code reviews, construction oversight) and at least 3 years of sales experience preferred.

Requirements:

  • Conduct fire protection assessments, code reviews, and design evaluations while ensuring compliance with Canadian national and provincial building and fire codes.
  • Manage client relationships across all project stages, including scoping, planning, execution, construction, and commissioning, with AHJ interface.
  • Provide technical expertise and project management support for fire protection engineering; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement fire protection strategies.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations; actively participate in fire protection or industry organizations to stay updated on best practices.

Position Overview

The Fire Protection Specialist will play a key role in fire protection engineering, code consulting, and client relationship management. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Canadian national and provincial building and fire codes, along with hands-on experience in fire protection assessments, construction, and commissioning within the nuclear industry.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fire protection assessments, code reviews, and design evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian national and provincial building and fire codes.
  • Manage client relationships throughout project stages, including scoping, planning, execution, construction, commissioning, and AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) interface.
  • Actively participate in fire protection or industry-based organizations to stay updated on best practices.
  • Provide technical expertise and project management support for fire protection engineering.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement fire protection strategies.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.




Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
  • Certification: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) certification or Registered Member of MAA (or equivalent).
  • Experience:5+ years of fire protection engineering experience, with a focus on assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian fire and building codes.
  • Experience managing projects, including assessments, code reviews, and construction oversight.
  • 3+ years of sales experience preferred.
  • Experience working on nuclear-related projects is required.
  • Skills:Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Quick learner with the ability to apply newly acquired knowledge effectively.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License (onsite work at project sites is required).
  • Strong English literacy skills (reading, writing, and verbal communication).
  • Eligibility to work in Canada is required.
