Data Governance Lead (Contract)

About the role:

As a Data Governance Lead, you will drive the design and delivery of modern Data Governance frameworks for enterprise clients, supporting the rollout of Ataccama ONE as the enabling platform.

You will partner with senior stakeholders across business and IT to define governance strategy, embed ownership models, and implement scalable processes that enable trusted data, regulatory compliance, and improved decision-making. This is a senior contract role requiring strong delivery leadership and stakeholder influence.

What you’ll do:

• Design and implement enterprise Data Governance frameworks aligned to DAMA best practice
• Define and operationalise Data Ownership and Stewardship models across key domains
• Establish governance forums, escalation pathways, and decision-making processes
• Deliver governance deliverables including policies, standards, controls, and governance KPIs
• Drive the implementation of business glossary and metadata management processes
• Support the identification and management of Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
• Work closely with Ataccama teams to embed governance workflows and approvals
• Partner with compliance, legal, and risk stakeholders to ensure regulatory alignment
• Deliver training and enablement sessions for Data Owners and Data Stewards
• Track governance adoption and maturity progress across the organisation

What you'll need:

• Proven experience delivering enterprise Data Governance programmes
• Strong knowledge of governance operating models, stewardship, metadata, and lineage
• Experience implementing governance tools (Ataccama, Collibra, Alation, Informatica etc.)
• Strong stakeholder management skills across senior business and IT teams
• Ability to drive adoption and embed governance into BAU operations
• Experience in regulated environments (financial services / insurance preferred)
• Excellent communication skills and delivery mindset
