Job description

Overview:

The Resource Development Associate plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County by supporting and assisting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the areas of fundraising and resource development. The associate is primarily responsible for special event planning and implementation, relationship maintenance, donor research/cultivation, and supporting administrative functions as needed. In addition, the associate is responsible for maintaining the donor database and its accuracy, as well as other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning Assistance

  • Lead the planning and implementation of special event fundraisers (A Most Unusual Evening, golf outing, awards ceremony, donor appreciation events, etc.)
  • Assist in the management and execution of the annual resource development plan
  • With the CEO and Communications Director, manage and execute the annual fundraising campaign, including developing a targeted strategy

Resource Development

  • Drive special event execution (develop timeline, keep staff on schedule, monitor task completion, acquire necessary permits and contracts)
  • Manage resource development solicitation details, including research on prospective and current donors, foundations, and organizations
  • Assist in implementing donor cultivation, stewardship, and moves management strategies
  • Assist in creating new and different campaigns (e.g., short-term, capital) as directed by the CEO
  • Develop comprehensive reports to assist the CEO with individual and corporate cultivation
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer in planning and implementing corporate and community volunteer projects and outreach events, including soliciting sponsors
  • Serve as initial point of contact for volunteer groups, cultivating and stewarding those relationships
  • Assist the CEO and Communications Director in the management and execution of the biannual print newsletter, including developing a targeted focus and call to action
  • Work with the Assistant to the Chief Executive in supporting the CEO in all aspects of fundraising (prospecting, cultivation, stewardship), advising on strategy, execution, and follow up
  • In collaboration with the CEO and Communications Director, assist in the development and implementation of a donor retention strategy.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant to the Chief Executive, facilitate the CEO’s moves management plan, strategizing major gift solicitations and mapping out next steps with all high-potential donors, capturing all information in DonorPerfect’s Contacts Manager
  • Manage CEO’s weekly development contacts calendar, in coordination with the Assistant to the Chief Executive
  • Manage the donor database, accurately entering and maintaining donor and gift data in DonorPerfect
  • In accordance with the Club’s donor stewardship matrix, generate written acknowledgement and thank-you letters, required tax receipts, and other related correspondence, as well as filing necessary support documentation
  • Generate monthly donation reports (or as needed) and analyze giving data
  • Maintain list of active donors for all printed and digital donor listings
  • Represent the Club at community fairs, special events, third-party fundraisers, etc., as needed.

Resource Management

  • Serve as the point of contact for the Resource Development Committee and support its efforts accordingly. Monitor progress on implementation and execution of resource development plan and prepare materials for reports and meetings.
  • Maintain a list of vendor donations for further appeal at appropriate times
  • Maintain files, archiving event records for future reference

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Assistant to the Chief Executive to exchange information, seek and give assistance, consultation, and direction in support of the CEO’s fundraising efforts. Maintain relationships with board of directors and attend regular board and committee meetings, as needed. Aid board members with personal events and personal appeals. Assist in organizing and leading the Resource Development Committee meetings. Maintain close collaborative relationships with senior staff members.

External: Make and maintain relationships with BGCA’s resource development support network, key community partners, vendors, and others to achieve goals.

Qualifications:

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
    • Previous nonprofit fundraising or development experience
    • Special event planning and execution
    • Competent in Microsoft Office products, proficient in DonorPerfect (or comparable donor database), and strong capacity to use/learn new technologies
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Strong communication skills
    • Able to complete projects in an efficient and timely manner
    • Exemplary work ethic
    • A self-starter who also collaborates effectively as a member of a team
    • Strong time-management skills with flexibility to transition between projects
    • Knowledge of accounting principles as they relate to fundraising
    • Willingness to provide phone coverage as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Valid NJ Driver’s License, ability to lift and carry 65 pounds, ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time, ability to climb stairs, ability to concentrate in small bustling office, available to work some nights and weekends

 

Job Type: Full-time

 

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
