  • Ensure compliance with tax legislation and regulatory updates, and filing accuracy and timeliness
  • Client Relationship Management: serve as primary contact for tax-related matters and maintain confidentiality

Education & Certification Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required). CPA or CA certification (preferred) or working towards certification. Additional qualifications/certifications related to taxation or SMSF compliance are an advantage. Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations and compliance for individuals, companies, trusts, and SMSFs. Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, HandiTax, or similar). Solid understanding of GST, PAYG, and other statutory requirements. Strong experience in Excel Experience Proven experience in preparing and lodging tax returns for various entities (individual, company, trust, sole trader, partnership SMSF). Experience in a public accounting firm or professional services environment is highly desirable. Experience with research and interpretation of tax laws, rulings, and practices. Analytical & Problem-Solving High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to identify potential tax issues and solutions. Communication & Interpersonal Skills Excellent written and verbal communication for effective client interactions and reporting. Ability to work effectively in a team and build strong client relationships. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Personal Attributes Integrity, confidentiality, and strong ethical standards. Proactive approach and eagerness to stay updated on changing regulations. Working independently Professional demeanor and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Core responsibilities:

Tax Return Preparation Prepare and lodge tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and SMSFs. Accurately validate financial data to ensure data correctness Maintain organized documentation for tax working papers and relevant supporting files. Bookkeeping Preparing business activity statement and Instalment activity statement Must have used tax return preparation softwires such as handitax, taxassistant, or other tax return preparation softwares. Compliance & Regulatory Updates Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and regulations. Advise management and clients on new legislative requirements and compliance obligations. Ensure that all returns and documentation are filed accurately and on time to avoid penalties. Client Relationship Management Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on tax-related matters. Provide timely and accurate responses to client inquiries. Maintain a high level of professional integrity and confidentiality while working with sensitive financial information.
