Job description

Job Summary:

As a Senior Sales Data Analyst at Bamboo Insurance, you will play a key role leveraging insights from data to help drive our go-to-market approach across all our distribution channels. The Sales Data Analyst will be a technically strong, hands-on data practitioner responsible for extracting, structuring, and analyzing raw data to support our distribution strategy. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, the ability to work with large, complex, and unstructured data sets using SQL, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Develop and write advanced SQL queries against raw data lake environments (not pre-modeled tables).

· Build clean, structured datasets from fragmented, messy source data - including designing transformations, data models, and repeatable logic.

· Design and build management reports, dashboards and scorecards to analyze customer and agent behavior.

· Perform deep-dive analytics using statistical methods, segmentation, and cohort analysis to monitor ongoing performance across distribution partners, identifying opportunities to increase sales and customer conversions.

· Assist in the onboarding of new partners, validating data pipelines, ensuring field mapping, and establishing ongoing monitoring logic.

· Build and refine the ideal customer profile for direct-to-consumer marketing

· Partner with engineering, actuarial, underwriting, and marketing teams to unify data definitions, improve data quality, and support analytical initiatives. Other duties, as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Expert-level SQL with a demonstrated ability to query unstructured/poorly formatted data.

· Strong understanding of data structures, ETL concepts, joins, nested logic, partitioning, and performance optimization techniques.

· Experience building datasets or data marts from scratch using raw, ungoverned data.

· Familiarity with APIs, JSON, and request testing frameworks (Postman, etc.).

· Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets (e.g., regression, forecasting, clustering, etc).

· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

· Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

· Proficiency in using analytical tools and software.

· Collaborative team player with a proactive and problem-solving attitude.

 

Required Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, etc.)

· 5+ years of experience in a data-heavy analytical or technical SQL role. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

 

Preferred Requirements:

· Experience with Homeowners’ insurance.

· Proficiency in Python or equivalent scripting language preferred.

Knowledge of Tableau, Pyramid, or other visualization tool preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

 

Salary: Starting at $100,000 annually. Candidate's skills, experience and abilities will be taken into consideration for final offer.
