We’re looking for a Refrigeration Engineer who can lead small client teams, take ownership of projects, and confidently navigate both traditional and emerging refrigeration technologies.
The successful candidate will provide mentorship to less experienced designers and make technical contributions. This role has potential for growth to become a signing engineer in multiple states as professional development and confidence is built over a short period of time.

What You’ll Do
Lead & Design
• Take the lead on small projects or key portions of larger projects, guiding clients and internal teams through successful project delivery.
• Design and draft commercial refrigeration systems, including isometric layouts for small to mid-sized projects.
• Select and size refrigeration equipment, controls, and develop energy calculations for straightforward to moderately complex projects.
• Edit and coordinate specifications for small to medium-sized projects.
Apply Technical Expertise
• Design DX refrigeration systems using traditional refrigerants.
• Contribute knowledge of transcritical CO₂ systems (experience with 2-stage, cascade, or recirculated ammonia systems is a plus).
• Apply national standards (IMC, IPC, ASHRAE) and energy codes to refrigeration system design with minimal oversight.
• Utilize tools such as Heatcraft Box Load Calculator and Sporlan Virtual Engineer.
• Integrate standard commercial refrigeration control systems into your designs.
Collaborate & Deliver
• Partner with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop coordinated construction documents.
• Participate in construction administration and support field coordination as needed.
• Perform quality control reviews on your own work and others’ before final review by the Engineer of Record.
• Maintain direct client contact and support basic project management responsibilities, including budget coordination.
• Travel occasionally to project sites as required.

Job Responsibilities:
• Engineer has the ability to lead a small client/client team, small projects, or portions of a large project utilizing their experience and education in refrigeration systems, controls, and knowledge of national standards that pertain to refrigeration; as well as solve medium to difficult design challenges that arise on a project.
• Engineer should have a basic understanding of energy codes and how to apply them to refrigeration systems design with minimal oversight, as well as a basic understanding of their impact on a buildings design.
• Engineer can work in an independent manner on several project and/or client types with minimal supervision from a more Senior Engineer or Designer.
• Engineer should have a good working knowledge of DX refrigeration system utilizing traditional refrigerants and a basic knowledge of transcritical CO2 systems. Additional systems that may be helpful are 2-stage systems, cascade systems, and recirculated ammonia systems.
• Engineer should have a basic knowledge of standard control systems used in commercial refrigeration.
• Engineer will work with Engineer and/or Design Lead to communicate with client, deliver completed construction documents, and assist in construction administration as required for most project types.
• Engineer should be able to apply their knowledge gained through experience and knowledge of recognized national standards to simple projects, with minimal oversight from a more Senior Engineer or Designer.
• Engineer should be able to design and draft refrigeration systems, including creating isometric plans for small to medium projects.
Job Duties:
• Engineer should be proficient in AutoCAD and/or REVIT. e should be able to train new employees on company standards, drafting techniques, and answer most technical design questions on simple projects for refrigeration design, as well as possess a basic understanding of national standards (IMC, IPC, ASHRAE). Engineer will have a good understanding of Heatcraft Box Load Calculator and Sporlan Virtual Engineer.
• Engineer will work in a collaborative environment with Architects and other Engineers to develop construction documents based on a clients' requirements, including some basic project management and construction administration functions.
• Engineer will be able to perform quality control of their projects and others, for final review by Engineer of Record.
• Engineer could have direct client contact, unless in a strictly technical role. Travel to the project site is a possibility.
• Engineer will work with Discipline Lead to establish project budgets, if requested, and be able to work within budgets. Engineer will also work with Discipline Lead to ensure projects are financially successful, unless in a strictly technical role for the company.
• Engineer should be able to select and design refrigeration systems and equipment, controls and provide energy calculations on simple projects.
• Engineer should be able to edit specifications on small to medium projects.
