Job description

Overview

An Account Executive actively develops relationships with influencers in the press, analyst and creator communities: these create the foundation you build on throughout your career. From that knowledge of the media you actively contribute to client meetings with pitch ideas and targets. You begin to see media as people doing a job, one in which they have an audience to engage and please. You prepare for further career development by recording the outcomes and to dos from meetings, and start setting the agendas for meetings. Your writing has moved beyond mistake-free to highly professional, in need of only minimal editing, if any. You are starting to anticipate the needs of your colleagues and clients and execute on them. You know how to laugh. In presentations you double check that our bullet points are the same style as they were on other pages, and correct them. The hardest, longest-term things you do are done in the morning before the hurly-burly of “to dos” swamps you. When in doubt, you share or ask a colleague or supervisor. You get speeding tickets, not parking tickets.

A major difference between TriplePoint and many firms is that, beyond the techniques and processes of communications consulting, you have started on the road to domain-specific expertise in the practice groups that you’re in. You have begun diving deeper into these fields through attendance at conferences and lots and lots of reading. You start to understand how the products work. You get into the minds of your clients. This excites you.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute advanced PR writing, including speaker submissions, contributed content, client recommendations, etc. Generate persuasive customized pitches. Deliver error-free documents on or ahead of deadline. Build and maintain impeccable shared documents and spreadsheets with no errors.
  • Facilitate company brainstorms, helping to organize idea flow and team collaboration. Actively participate and engage in company-wide brainstorms, meetings, and discussion on all industry topics, especially those pertinent to new media formats.
  • Individually solving common problems is now second-nature, and helping associates and coordinators grow in their ability to do so. Effectively work with more senior team members to present solutions to more complex problems and implementing for clients.
  • Focus attention on media relations, including research, pitching, relationship building, and identifying new opportunities. An ability to recite the major industry outlets/writers, and begin developing a sense of prioritization based on client objectives. Serve as the early warning system for any emerging, organic client news such as leaks, crisis topics, etc.
  • Be a reliable communicator, always at the ready to take direction, raise a hand, or ask a question. Applies critical thinking to effective communication in both verbal and written form, including daily team and press correspondence. Successfully communicates 'up' to managing leaders, and maintains a sense of transparency and trust on all work activities.
  • A collaborative team member focused on achieving goals together with their peers. All client communications are presented as "we" and not as a single individual. Make contributions to shared databases of your experiences. Provide reliable account support (news distribution, agendas and recaps, briefing books). Support teams across accounts with deadline awareness; share polished first drafts with enough time for review and turnaround.
  • Manages daily tasks and prioritizes assignments to meet deadlines, and effectively distributes work with peers to accomplish client objectives. Interact with clients effectively and with self-awareness (phone, email and in-person interactions), fully grasping client needs and the distribution of work to deliver on those needs. High performance instills confidence in the team and inspires associates and coordinators to achieve the same.
  • Regularly consumes media that is relevant to clients and expands beyond immediate endemic outlets. Participation in agency-wide discussion and contribution of thought represents more advanced knowledge being gained through active industry participation. Demonstrating awareness of industry trends is a must, especially as it applies to client campaigns.
  • Work actively with senior team members to continue developing skills that advance your professional capabilities. Progression is clear and evident, and more senior responsibilities are now providing exposure to continue the growth through hands-on experience.
  • Participates in research and development of new business proposals, as well as the occasional pitch meeting. Participate in industry events, and begin establishing a network of relevant connections that may lead to future business opportunities.
