Position Type: Full Time; South Asia
Program and Position Overview: More than 15 million children worldwide are orphaned, and many more have been abandoned by their parents. These children are among the most salient examples of "the least of these" about whom Jesus speaks in Matthew 25:40. At LJI, we operate 14 family homes and one young adult hostel that provide care for over 200 orphaned or abandoned children in South Asia. Each home is overseen by house parents and at least one helper, and the entire program is supported by 12 national and international staff. Our mission is to help them become difference makers for Christ by providing stable, loving, family-like homes that are developmentally enriching in every way.
To ensure excellence among our family homes in Asia and to prepare for possible expansion into new countries, Love Justice has developed 15 "core processes" to monitor each family home’s performance and compliance to the family homes standard. These processes involve a variety of different areas, such as Parent’s Interview & Recruiting, Counseling Needs Assessment and Plan, Child Protection, Family Home Operations, Malnutrition Checking, Children’s Future, and Training Manual.
The School Psychologist will facilitate the continuous assessment and evaluation of any/all children living in LJI's family homes, including those who have experienced trauma and injury, and will train staff, teachers, and parents on how to effectively educate and interact with those children who possess learning disabilities, emotional trauma, disorders, etc. This position will require living in Asia (with extensive travel) and will report to the Director of Family Homes. Frequent home visitation will be essential.
