Job description

With over 59 stores and the largest avocational cooking program in the US, Sur La Table offers an unsurpassed selection of exclusive and premium-quality goods for the kitchen and table – and the culinary expertise and inspiration to go along with it. Whether the job entails interacting with our customers, driving digital growth, or providing vital behind-the-scenes support, we’re all here for the same reason – to roll up our sleeves and create happiness through cooking and sharing good food.

Sur La Table is evolving into a fully integrated marketing organization. As we scale, how work is planned, prioritized, sequenced, and funded becomes a core business capability. The Sr. Manager, Marketing Operations is the planning authority for the Integrated Marketing Team (IMT).

This role determines when and in what order marketing happens, translating enterprise strategy into executable, financially sound marketing plans. Operating upstream of execution, this leader ensures ambition aligns with capacity, sequencing, and investment guardrails.

This role does not manage creative production or day-to-day delivery. Creative Operations owns execution and production governance. Marketing Operations owns planning, prioritization, and financial feasibility.

Planning & Prioritization:
  • Lead quarterly and monthly marketing planning cycles
  • Translate strategy into sequenced, scoped marketing plans
  • Establish prioritization frameworks and define levels of effort
  • Surface trade-offs and feasibility risks early
  • Own accountability for the final marketing plan

  • Financial & Capacity Governance:
  • Own marketing-level financial planning and forecasting
  • Align investment to business drivers and growth priorities
  • Model capacity assumptions and identify constraints
  • Partner with Creative Operations to align planning with production reality
  • Marketing Operations owns business-level planning; Creative Operations owns production budget execution.

  • Cross-Functional Integration:
  • Consolidate inputs across Integrated Marketing, Channels, Merchandising, Stores, and Digital
  • Provide visibility across concurrent initiatives
  • Prevent portfolio conflicts and sequencing breakdowns
  • Escalate unresolved conflicts to VP/SVP when necessary

  • Decision Scope:
  • This role has authority to:
  • Sequence marketing priorities
  • Define planning frameworks
  • Establish feasibility guardrails
  • Model trade-offs and escalate blockers

  • This role does not:
  • Set campaign strategy
  • Define creative direction
  • Manage production or asset delivery

  • Strategic Altitude:
  • Focus: Marketing planning & portfolio prioritization
  • Time Horizon: Monthly through annual planning cycles
  • Orientation: Operational strategy & governance
  • This is not a project management role. It is an upstream planning and financial orchestration role.

  • What you bring:
  • 7–10+ years in marketing operations, portfolio planning, or integrated marketing strategy
  • Experience leading planning cycles and cross-functional prioritization
  • Strong financial acumen with forecasting experience
  • Ability to operate strategically while managing operational detail
  • Prior people management experience preferred
  • Experience partnering with creative and production teams
