Roles & Responsibilities

  • University degree or three-year college diploma in Civil Engineering; Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed to practice in Ontario (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated on-site construction administration experience (Transit Stations, Parking Structures, Tracks, Signals; supervision of Site Representatives)
  • Valid G-class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

  • Maintain and update tracking spreadsheets for change directives, change orders, payment certificates, construction progress, and final construction cost tracking
  • Review and provide comments on contractors’ schedules
  • Oversee construction to confirm quality of construction

Duties:

  • Provide general administration during construction, including approval of alternatives in materials and procedures, review and approve shop drawings.
  • Maintain and update tracking spreadsheets/summaries for change directives, change orders, payment certificates, construction progress and track final construction cost.
  • Review and provide comments on contractors’ schedules.
  • Perform random field checks of major contract items to verify the payment certificate quantities measured by the site representative.  Investigate and address discrepancies during monthly audits.
  • Review, negotiate, and provide recommendations to the client on contractor claims for extra work.
  • Prepare and process monthly progress estimates.
  • Oversee construction to confirm quality of construction.
  • Review and provide comments to the contractor’s traffic control plan as per OTM Book 7
  • Arrange, chair and minute construction progress meetings.
  • Review contractor’s information requests and provide response.
  • Administer quality assurance during construction including coordination with sub-consultants for material testing, etc.
  • Maintain regular communication with client regarding project status and construction issues.
  • Coordinate and provide direction to site representatives.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in construction and contract administration for large‑scale transportation, transit, commercial, and municipal infrastructure projects
  • University Degree or three‑year College Diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated on‑site construction administration experience, including but not limited to: Transit Stations, Parking Structures, Tracks, Signals, and Rehabilitation of transit facility building projects
  • Proven experience supervising Site Representatives and coordinating field activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing schedules/progress measurement and monitoring critical path, delays, and impact of changes
  • Experience working within a rail right‑of‑way and/or with Class 1 railways is considered an asset.
  • Certification as a Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) from Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Valid G‑class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to perform other related duties as required.

Compensation Range

The salary range for this position is: $110,000-$160,000 per year

Compensation for this role will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
